Solution is easy. Raise fed income tax to 75 percent of pay. Increase minimum pay to $500/hour. Use increased tax revenue to pay down debt. Whatever is left can be used to rebuild federal offices once the rioting ends.
Give me a break. The SS and Medicare Trustees have been warning us for decades that our entitlement programs are unsustainable. They issue public reports every year.
But the parties have been lying to us - both of them - and the betrayal has become too blatant and the size of the national debt is now catastrophic. At least now we have more access to information than the New York Times and the Washington Post.
The information has always been public knowledge. The politicians depend on the uninformed, lazy voter who can be manipulated and deceived. We have always had access to the information.
Like Hillary’s missing 6 billion, etc. etc. etc.
That information was published in a State Department IG report that is issued publicly.
And where did the money go? And who could have stopped it from going missing?
Are you telling me you think our politicians are honest?
Debt is only a problem if you intend to pay it back.
Eggactly!
You need to read the report. State Departmentâs Inspector General Steve Linick warned âsignificant financial risk and a lack of internal control at the department has led to billions of unaccounted dollars over the last six years.â
Are you telling me you think our politicians are honest?
No. But they are accountable to we the people. It is our fault if we do not hold them accountable for their actions.
Yes, it’s our fault - especially if we believe their campaign promises and we have no one else to vote for except 2 sides of the same coin.
This time we do....I hope we don’t blow it.
Thanks. But I believe our children have no obligation to honor our debts.
I agree. I will make sure my children do not to repay the Greatest Profligate Generation’s debt.
I knew I’d heard that formulation but couldn’t remember where. Thank you.
While that’s certainly true, the casualty will then be the full faith and credit of the United States. Which will result in the same financial destruction for our posterity.
It could be nasty but it need not be aramageddon. The author is talking about not just treasury debt but social obligations. I am suggesting they refuse to pay the social pile of sshiite.
“Walker called for Democrats and Republicans to put aside partisan politics to come together to fix the problem.”
Ha, ha, ha, never going to happen, the dems and repubs are why we are in this mess. They are all, like Milton said in paradise lost, “it is better to rule in hell than be subservient in heaven”. So we are in hell and they are ruling us. All is lost, it is way pass time to being back the principals of the founding fathers and the constitution.
Well, then I agree with you.
Shut down every unconstitutional program and agency and we’ll be well on our way back to fiscal health.
