Republicans declare war on the media at their own peril
WaPo Opinions ^ | 11-2-2015 | Catherine Rampell

Republicans want to cut the lamestream media out of the presidential vetting process.

They should be careful what they wish for.

(snip)

Don't be surprised if next we hear of demands for soft-focus cameras, bowls of M&Ms with all the brown ones removed and requirements that questions begin with "if you please, your excellency." .....

And while it's easy to mock some of these demands as petty and prima-donnish, many of them suggest a more insidious strategy: a concerted effort to extricate as much independent journalistic influence from the democratic process as possible and essentially turn the Fourth Estate into a bunch of stenographers.

(snip)

For one, all their whining about mean-spirited media bullying suggests the GOP candidates may not be equipped to handle the rough-and-tumble of a general election campaign, let alone the far more demanding presidency itself, despite tough talk about staring down dictators. A reasonable voter response to such bellyaching might be: If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen. Maybe to someplace below 67 degrees.

Secondly, the candidates need the media as much as we in the media need them. .......

First, Has there a bigger strawman existed than what this woman built up?

Second, A "rough-and-tumble of a general election campaign, .... the far more demanding presidency itself" Riiiiight, it gave us the current WH resident, and possibly (Kerry in 2004), or Hillary in 2016.

Why not the main stream media has declared war on the GOP.

The Media has already declared war on Republicans—and all Americans except the Lunatic Left Fringe.

Let's try it any way. We haven't yet. It would be nice to do something different for a change. There should be weekly conference calls for 2015 and 2016 between senior strategy advisors of all camps on this **one issue** until a GOP nominee is secured. That would unnerve the Praetorian Guard, Hillary's LSM jockstrap carriers, to no end!!!!

Why should there be an issue? The ‘Media’ has been at war with Republicans for decades.
‘Bout time the started shooting back.

If the author was honest, the title would read, “Media declare war on Republicans at their own peril”

Well, kowtowing to the Democrat-PAC media certainty hasn’t worked, so Pubs don’t have much to lose by finally refusing to play their gotcha game.

Later in the article, she hinted that “OR ELSE”, that the free press will turn into Pravda.

And we all will be WARY WARY sorry.

Didn’t bother to read the horse manure this compost broad proffered, but did enjoy about a hundred of the 828 odd comments at the degenerate website. There’s the good reading.

After years of one-side warfare, we should have learned that playing nice with the enemy is a losing proposition....let's have at the MSM and go in with all barrels blazing.

There's a saying that I ascribe to - If you always do what you always did, you'll always get what you always got.

That's one of the reasons Trump became such a hit so fast - he opted to not follow the previous lemmings over that cliff.

She might have been able to make this point had Candy Crowley not totally blown their cover. CNBC was just the icing on the cake.

A modified version of that advice can be made about electronic media.

Frankly I think we can reach just as many people via social media as television at this point. We might be better off telling mainstream TV media to take a hike and rely on C-span and streaming internet for viewership.

We should have conservative moderators for GOP primaries. Personally I’d like our debates to be conducted on conservative college campuses like Hillsdale college. The moderators should be staunch constitutionalists like Larry Arn, Mark Levin, and Mark Steyn. In a place like Hillsdale even the students will ask important questions about real issues.
