We conservatives (not GOP) need to pick and choose candidates in the primary election that fit our standards. David Vitter the corrupt incumbent doesn’t fit conservative standards, and that is problem number 1. Neither do some/many others with an R after their name such as Eric Cantor. We need to remold the GOP into an ethical Party that serves Americans and America, and not globalists, illegals, other countries and corporations.

Really?

Democrats lie. You should know that by now.

And...

“The mother of a Louisiana National Guardsman who was killed last spring has apparently sent a letter to Democrat state Rep. John Bel Edwards to pull an ad in which Edwards’ accuses gubernatorial opponent Republican U.S. Sen. David Vitter of “choosing prostitutes over patriots.”

Kim Florich said in the letter she was offended by the ad because it depicted Vitter talking on a cell phone with Arlington National Cemetery in the background.

Florich, originally from Baton Rouge, was one of four Louisiana Army National Guardsmen killed in a UH-60M Black Hawk helicopter crash off the coast of Florida on March 10 during a training mission. But because Florich wasn’t listed as on active duty, the Army initially said he couldn’t be buried in Arlington as his family requested.”

As bad as we hate Vitter’s whoremonging, we will NEVER vote for communist democrats...ever. Our vote went to Vitter.

Agree. I’d never vote for a Demonrat - even for dog catcher.

This guy would restore the abortion murder PP money and is another tax and spend lib. It’d also set him up for the U.S. Senate later.

Vitter needs to get out there. Feels like he’s hiding instead of fighting.

“If its true, that the choice is a Ranger vs a GOP lawyer who skipped a vote about 28 dead soldiers to go meet a hooker,,,, then as the ad said, the choice is clear.”

Just me, but I will NEVER accept a desperate dem candidate’s political attack ad to contain anything close to the truth without any proof.

As an US Air Force veteran myself, I sincerely thank Edwards for his Ranger service. BUT, why in the world would a former Ranger then go on to cast his lot with the Democrat Party, a party that has pushed so many highly damaging anti-American and unpatriotic policies??? IMO, Edwards has totally squandered his status as a former Ranger by embracing and supporting these Democrat policies, and even doubling down with his full support of Obama. I don’t approve what Vitter did regarding his personal failures, but there is just no way that this ad alone is going to stop me from casting my vote for Vitter.

Whether he’s corrupt or not, I don’t really know but he is very conservative. He’s certainly not my first choice for governor, but he sure seems better than Edwards. The Heritage Action for America gives Vitter a score of 85% - significantly above the 68% average for the Senate GOP. By way of comparison, Mitch McConnell has a score of just 61%. So I think Louisianans would be wise to look at Vitter’s record and then vote for him.

Well said. I also strongly disapprove of Vitter’s actions regarding the prostitution but can’t see supporting the alternative!

“We conservatives (not GOP) need to pick and choose candidates in the primary election that fit our standards. David Vitter the corrupt incumbent doesn’t fit conservative standards, and that is problem number 1...”

But, it NOW is only either a personally flawed conservative Vitter or a total “kiss up for Obama” Edwards for Louisiana governor. I’m voting for Vitter. But of course, I’ll always support better candidates in the future.

We cannot excuse or condone what Vitter did, but this was years ago and he and his wife dealt with it and worked things out. If this is the best the Edwards campaign can dish out against Vitter, then Edwards is an incompetent candidate.

I don’t remember the Democrats giving Bill Clinton grief over his own improprieties.

And “foithermore”.....

So Edwards seems to be running exclusively on his West Point record. Fine and dandy; the man went to one of our military academies, and we can all recognize that as an accomplishment. But, in the end, (to quote Hillary Clinton) “what difference does it make?” when:

1. The Obama administration (which Edwards wholeheartedly supports) has seriously reduced the very same military Edwards takes pride in having served in.

2. Our foreign policy is in shambles, our southern border is porous, and “no boots on the ground” in the Middle East powder keg is actually “boots on the ground”.

2. There is much more to defend than the independence, territorial integrity, and interests of the United States. How about adherence to the Constitution, true marriage, (i.e., man and woman), the unborn, and against job-killing environmental extremism? If Edwards cannot defend all that, he must then stop using his military background as a political prop.

It’s nice that he served in the military but that doesn’t make him good governor material. This ad shows that he’s really a sleazy opportunist. If this is all he’s got, then I think Vitter is going to win this thing.

Disgusting is the word for that ad. John Bell Edwards doesn’t mind smearing a man that has made peace with his family over his decisions but will kiss the ground of Bill Clinton who has never gotten over his desires for other women. He’s a typical liberal taking typical liberal paths that lead to their living quarters under rocks. Despicable man. I hope he looses so big he will want to move to another state which would suit me fine. Not voting for him - no way - the big sleeze.

To paraphrase GHWB, Vitter is in “deep doo-doo” and unlikely to prevail. But I didn’t think Bevin would win either, and he drew a comfortable margin.
