Karl's father was Herschel Mordechai who was in what is now western Germany. When this part was taken over by the Prussians (who were pretty much against Jews in government), Herschel converted to Lutheranism and became Heinrich Marx (this was before Karl was born)

So Karl was born and baptised a Lutheran but of Jewish descent with Jewish grandparents (his mother's father was a rabbi)

This Jewish heritage is the reason why 19th and 20th century anti-semitism colored communism as a Jewish plot

I don't see any way how his Jewish heritage influenced his political beliefs more than growing up in an industrialised nation except that Karl Marx was smart, brilliant even and that would be from Jewish heritage I believe -- but even the smartest people can act stupidly

Instead of paying, he chose to peer over a fence at Marx's imposing bust.

How far did he have to pee over the fence???

I thought you'd get flak too. Marx was shaped by the misery he saw about him.

So here's my "flak": his solutions caused even more misery for even more people.

But I don't think that people are aware of how horrific things were for the regular person back then. Even if what I read was for a small minority of people, it was unjust.
