I think it’s because Carson said on Oct 28th that marriage was between a man and a woman.
That caused the left to lose it’s focus on anything that would take down Trump and start attacking Carson.
Zactly. Even as a VP candidate, He will draw about 1/3 of black votes and would set a distinct contrast to the indoctrinated communist in the white house.

Take a look at the Carson threads from yesterday. We had FReepers essentially taking the Politico’s side in attacking Carson. It didn’t matter to some FReepers that the Politico lied through their rotten teeth about Carson’s past!

What I'm curious about is the Friday attack. Usually Friday is the day for dumping self-incriminating information.
My theory is that the allegations can be easily refuted, but the refutation will come on Saturday, when no one is listening, and the hatchet job will have had its effect.
