The TWA800 cover story had me fooled for about 5 seconds until I realized that we have 100,000,000 cars built since the 1990’s in the USA which have in-tank electric fuel pumps ,,, all of which have some exposed wiring or the spade connectors on the pumps themselves and I’ve NEVER heard of a car exploding from a bad fuel pump despite far more volatile fuel...

Not to mention the fact that you can drop a burning match in a container of jet fuel (or kerosene or diesel fuel) and all that happens is that the match goes out.
