Kentucky Election Recap - GOP now holds majority of state offices
11/3/2015

Posted on 11/03/2015 9:20:15 PM PST by Republican Wildcat

Governor: Matt Bevin (R) defeats Jack Conway (D) 53% - 44% - GOP gain

Lt. Governor: Jenean Hampton (R) defeats Sannie Overly (D) *runs as a ticket with the candidates for governor - GOP gain - first African American to hold statewide office in Kentucky history.

.

Agriculture Commissioner: Ryan Quarles (R) defeats Jean-Marie Lawson Spann (D) 60% to 40% - GOP hold. This was the only state office the GOP held prior to tonight (James Comer is the incumbent - ran unsuccessfully for governor vs. running for re-election)

.

Treasurer: Allison Ball (R) defeats Rick Nelson (D) 61% to 39% - GOP gain

Auditor:Mike Harmon (R) defeats incumbent Adam Edelen (D) 52% to 48% - GOP gain - this victory has national implications as Adam Edelen has been highly touted by national Democrats and liberal media figures (like Rachel Maddow) as their great hope in the South and a strong contender for the U.S. Senate in 2016.

.

And finally, and unfortunately, Alison Lundergan Grimes (D) narrowly held on to win re-election against Steve Knipper (R) 51% - 49% in the Secretary of State race and Andy Beshear (D) held on to the Attorney General office for the Democrats by beating Whitney Westerfield (R) 50.1% to 49.9%. It is clear that if the donors had opened their wallets to Knipper and Westerfield (although Westerfield had substantial support from RAGA, he did not have much to run his own campaign - and Knipper had virtually no campaign funds) - these races would have also been won for a sweep. The polls showing them way behind - even by double digits - were clearly wrong and probably scared away donors. But, certainly, still overall a very good night in Kentucky - going from holding 1 office out of 7 to holding 5 of 7 is certainly a good result.

This is a clear sign people want Republicans to work with Democrats. All these newly elected Republicans would be wise to accept rino policies and strategies so they don’t upset the moderates.

I’m bummed about that super-close AG race. But a very good night for KY overall.

the dem machine is busted! how did bevin do it? 1) bevin finally got his act together 2 weeks ago. after letting conway attack him for 3 months non-stop, bevin run his own ads. plus a strong debate performance helped too. 2) ky obamacare collasping a week before the election. plus the dems blamed the gop for setting obamacare to fail. this the mvp of the election.

Tonight was a big win for conservatives.

Big win in Kentucky governor’s race.

GOP hold on to the Virginia Senate.

Some sort of GBLT ordinance went down in flames in Houston. I’m not up on the details but it was a win for those oppose the gay liberal agenda.

Legalize pot got smashed in Ohio. A win for conservatives, although some conservatives/libertarians support legalize weed and some liberals are against legal pot. Still, I will call it a win for social conservatives.

Want to bet that’s not the way the MSM covers today’s election? Conservative talk radio might pick up on today’s win but the MSM won’t.

Pennsylvania continues to be a dark spot. We lose our Republican governor last year in one of the only races lost by Republicans and now we lose some other statewide positions. This despite our Democrat attorney general being under criminal investigation and having her law license suspended.

This state is going down the tubes politically speaking.

What’s Lt. Gov.-elect Hampton like? Is she a conservative like Governor-elect Bevin?

Maryland also has a black Republican Lt. Governor — our third black Lt. Gov. in a row.

THANK YOU !

I voted at the Henderson County Court house before I left for a 22 day family (wife’s side) visit in Saigon.

Happy to see we won a few seats.

It would be nice if they could screw Mitch McConnell.

I think the BEST RESPONSE is to replace a fairly conservative US House Speaker with a FLAMING LIBERAL. That must be what the 2014 wanted. LOL.

Kentucky has been a democratic held state for the majority of four decades, and not once had a black hold statewide office. It took a conservative Republican to have one as running mate. What does that tell you about the democrats?
