The mixing of the two species

If they can interbreed and produce fertile offspring, then they are NOT "two species", they are just different breeds.

A chihuahua doesn't look like a golden retriever, which doesn't look like a mastiff. But they are all dogs.

Since coywolves continue to mate with dogs and wolves, the argument goes, they are therefore not a species. But, given the way coywolves came into existence, that definition would mean wolves and coyotes should not be considered different species either—and that does not even begin to address whether domestic dogs are a species, or just an aberrant form of wolf.

Most all of dogs, coyotes, and wolves interbreed and produce viable offspring.

They are really just one very large and varied speicies, with lots of sub-species.

75 pounds is a huge coyote; 100 pounds is likely an average wolf.
