Yes, but that’s also some of the most monitored surface on the earth. The Israelis have a number of satellites parked in orbit watching the Sinai and the Egyptians watch the area closely as well. Both countries have been blindsided out of the Sinai before and neither is terribly interested in having that happen again.

Commercial photosats like the kind used by Google for their Google Earth project are of sufficient detail that you can see a cat sitting in someone’s driveway. They can also sometimes be used to tell a woman’s cup size if she is lying down supine or reclining.
And that’s just the civilian models.
The military recon sats are rumored to be able to read the headline on the newspaper you are perusing in the recliner on your back patio if conditions are right.

That is a good point, though it is the Sinai, which is an area that one would think is being watched for decades.
