ISIS is claiming they shot it down, aren’t they? They even posted a video

Has this been debunked?

The higher the altitude, the larger, more complex, and greater the need for trained operators of SAM weapons. So the critical question is how high up were they when the plane went oops?

A far more likely scenario is that somebody smuggled a bomb on board.

Pan Am Lockerbie was my first thought when I saw the flightaware graph re: altitude vs. time/distance.

It can only be four possible answers: massive engine failure, another aircraft or drone hitting it, a long-range missile, or a bomb onboard. It wouldn’t surprise me if it was a drone.

Could be structural failure. Or electrical failure - it is a fly by wire plane.

“An investigation by aviation experts using data from the aircraft’s “black boxes” has yet to give its conclusions. “

YET, the Russians have declared that it was NOT a technical problem, or aircraft failure, and that the pilot absolutely did NOT declare a problem and ask to descend for an emergency landing.

This goes in the face of the Egyptian statement (ATC) that the pilot did say they were having technical problems and needed to land.

The Russians are DENYING plane failure to much for me to believe that it was anything else.

I’m no expert but if there’s debris strewn across that big of an area, it would have had to explode while in the air as they’re claiming currently?.....everything seems to point towards some sort of explosion during flight wether it was internal or external remains to be researched....The cause could be a number of things.... Explosive decompression could happen from many factors... Cargo Door, Emergency Exit, engine falling off and rupturing the fuselage... because it broke up mid-air doesn’t only come from a rocket or bomb as you know...

Here’s a good aerial view of the spread of the wreckage....

I could just as easily believe the Egyptians not wanting an excuse for Russian involvement in the Sinai as well.

What makes me suspicious is that the Russians have been DENYING for DAYS that it was a technical problem.

You know what they say about someone who DENIES something three times.

I don’t see how anything the Egyptians wanted or thought could preclude Russia not getting involved into a crash of a Russian plane, regardless to what caused the crash.

It would be the difference between an investigative involvement and a military one.

Given the conflicting interests here we’ll likely never really know what happened to that plane.

But it would have been devlishly easy for grounds crew at the airport to put something on board. Or even a Russian convert to do so in their baggage. IIRC the lockerbie bomb was in a portable radio or walkman type device.

“You know what they say about someone who DENIES something three times.”

Before the wreckage was cold the intelligence agencies were denying it was terrorism. Your point?

Bet it was shot down by the stingers that Hillary provided to Libyan rebels and she was trying to get ambassador Stephens to return.

As with other planes gone down...I doubt the real story will be forthcoming as it’s highly political. If reported as external or internal explosion the source and who will be the blame game.....but there most likely will be a “fall guy” one way or another.

“Bet it was shot down by the stingers that Hillary provided to Libyan rebels and she was trying to get ambassador Stephens to return.”

The aircraft altitude was 31,000 feet ASL, which is thousands of feet above the range of the Stinger when directly below a flight path and thousands more feet when not below the flight path. So, how does a Stinger missile shoot down an aircraft beyond its range?

IIRC, it was NON-RUSSIAN intelligence agencies making that claim.

From the video ISIS released the plane was clearly NOT at full cruising altitude

Not likely. Confirmation that it broke up at altitude.

Seems like we all agree on that part.
