When I was a kid, my best Halloween involved walking a winding path which eventually reached a point 2 miles from home. Walking back home was hard because my bag was so full of candy. I’m guessing I was about 9 years old. The world has totally changed since then.
Cute. One of my grandsons is nine.
Your story proves what I told my parents and they wouldn’t believe me, “it was uphill both ways”
Yes, the world has changed since then. It’s not the normal people that we fear. We don’t trust the gay, party throwing couples in our neighborhood. Little kids walking around on unlit streets with real life ghouls lurking in the bushes hoping for a bit of sport. No, thanks.
One bag? When I was nine I had to go home twice to get another empty shopping bag. I collected enough candy to sweeten me until Christmas. A few righteous adults gave me apples, but the rest knew better and gave me candy. We made our rounds knowing time was short. No time to explain costumes to others.
Yep. It has. Dramatically. That's why parents are, for good reason, panicked when their children are out of sight.
The world is a different place from the one in which we freely roamed the neighborhood bagging candy from almost every door.
