One of the wealthiest and most influential Republican donors in the country is throwing his support to Senator Marco Rubio of Florida, a decision that could swing millions of dollars in contributions behind Mr. Rubio at a critical point in the Republican nominating battle.
In a letter that Mr. Singer sent to dozens of other donors on Friday, which was obtained by The New York Times, Mr. Singer described Mr. Rubio â who was elected to the Senate in the Tea Party wave but has been embraced by the partyâs Washington elite â as the only candidate who can ânavigate this complex primary process, and still be in a position to defeatâ Hillary Rodham Clinton in a general election. ...
Both Mr. Rubio and Mr. Bush eagerly sought Mr. Singerâs backing, as did Mr. Christie, and all three have ties to the wealthy hedge fund manager.
...
The lobbying of Mr. Singer intensified in recent weeks as Mr. Bushâs debate stumbles and declining poll numbers drove many donors to consider Mr. Rubio anew. Last week, Mr. Bushâs campaign manager, Danny Diaz, and senior adviser, Sally Bradshaw, flew to New York to make personal appeals on Mr. Bushâs behalf, in the hopes of heading off an endorsement of Mr. Rubio, according to two people close to the former governorâs campaign.

And the ONLY time a GOP president had a DEM VEEP, was Lincoln and he was not elected but chosen. Oh yes and Johnson was the FIRST ever IMPEACHED sitting president.
It would appear so. LOL
I also think that some are being a bit naive on the potential threat Rubio could pose to the "outsiders."
Speaking objectively, he's young and nice looking, not a stale old face. He's also very articulate. He will appeal to a lot of people.
I've always thought he was a bigger threat than Bush, and now I think that's even more obvious.
Why do you suppose they want something to “work”? All they want is power and cash. If they can sucker people into a unity ticket, they get both and eliminate the need for an opposition.
Then they can make it ‘work’ however they like. They conned north of 140 million people into voting for liberals in 12. Is it really so odd to suppose they would take the next logical step to socialism?
If they run Hillary and Romney, plenty of people that felt screwed by Obama will turn out in droves to avenge their prior losses and ‘show Barry and those evil purists” they really were right.
Yes, people are that petty and that stupid. they proved it.
Another one that wants nothing good for America or its people. They are nothing but sick sewer garbage.
I strongly suspect this is what’s happening. Jeb may have deliberately thrown Marco a fast ball the other night knowing his time is up. Marco was able to play the victim card from Jeb’s attack and hit it out of the park.
Luckily Ted Cruz stole the show with his ‘this is not a cage match’ retort to the media inquisitors of CNBC.
Mr. Singer may have dollars, but we have the votes. This amnesty whore is going nowhere.
There is no universe in which he is going to be the candidate.
Why did these horses asses want to throw their money away?
Only way Rubio gets enough delegates is if he definitively renounces amnesty. Trump/Cruz are the most likely nominees and the best choices.
Rubio’s economic plan is actually pretty good. Rubio’s positions on abortion and same sex marriage are good. I like how he’s been hitting Hillary hard recently. But his past support for amnesty is a major issue. Cruz is far and way the most conservative and Trump is the best leader. As of right now I lean Trump.
Jeb! needs to go.... no one wants a Bush
lulz
Of course! Marco Rubio will provide Paul Singer with ample supply of cheap imported labor. Lot’s of H1-B visa foreign workers, expansion of legal immigrants, and amnesty to illegals. And of course no wall on the border.
Agreed. But what we want (well conservatives here anyway) and what the Uniparty wants are very different things.
People need to understand that we are cattle to them. A means to an end. A pawn on the bosrd. A resource or a burden. Lots of ways to view it/us. What we are not is ‘equal’. the mayor of a podunk town in Kansas sees himself as superior to the people that elected him. Look at the nutcase in Baltamore. Same thing. Now imagine how you view people if you are a former first ‘lady’ or a brother one president and son to another.
People in their circles do not have fellow Americans. They have international business associates. And the business is power. When you become an obstacle to power you become a burden. And you are disposed of. Right now they merely destroy your life. The next step is taking it as was shown throughout the middle 20th century.
Rubio will provide Cheap labor express for the rich donors.
Do you think Cruz will soon be the front runner?
If Rubio is nominated he’ll lose to Hillary without my vote
Ted will have trouble because Rubio is being pumped up by the media and political machine alongside him and Fox now claims “Carson” as the front runner confusing and dividing conservatives in line with the GOPe game plan.
If the GOPe can keep conservatives split between Trump, Carson and Cruz, they might have a change to run Marco in between them to win the nomination.
I’m okay with legal immigration as long as we put in an “America first” type provision. We only allow highly skilled immigrants in and only if we need them for the work force and only if they are not just cheap labor. Thanks for the link maybe Cruz and Rubio are not as far apart as I previously thought. I like Trump the best anyway though.
