The Republican contender implied at a town hall in South Carolina on Saturday that psychology degrees don't lead to good job prospects.
"When a student shows up, they ought to say 'Hey, that psych major deal, that philosophy major thing, that's great.' It's important to have liberal arts ... but realize, you're going to be working at Chick-fil-A..."
Psychology students and graduates quickly mobilized, tweeting their stories of personal and career successes using the hashtag #ThisPsychMajor.

However if it’s a truly loved accident then consider yourself blessed. Most envy and can only dream to apply the skills they love towards a livable career.
Oh I am grateful. It paid the bills and gave me no end of pleasure. It was rare that I ever wrote a story/article/review/report/whatever that I didn’t enjoy at some level. Some far more than others sure. But I never hated the job...well that aspect of it anyway ;)
But if you ever asked anyone I grew up with ‘Where is he today?” the word “writer” or anything near it would be nowhere on the list of possible things you’d hear. Or in the same room with them.
Even with a PhD in Psychology. You’ll be lucky to start at 50k.
Sacre’ Bleu! What will we do?
Sure, spend (go in debt) for 150k on graduate studies and doctoral programs, maybe—maybe make half of that. Even at 108k, you’ll be paying those loans off for years.
Some will, indeed, rake in the big bucks......let’s look at the percentage of them, over the past 25 years, who have done so.
If your in psych and you can not get grants to pay for you you shouldn’t go. Don’t assume that all PhDs leave grad school with debt, many are fully funded and get a stipend while in grad school. If you are not solid enough to get a grant or fellowship you may want to rethink the PhD.
It’s a good thing you had those foolish professors and left the field early, or you could have been trapped.
Good point, but most don’t make it that far as a psychology major.

I loved my job. It takes the ‘work’ out of work and converts it into just living. Maybe I liked it too much ... and that’s why I live alone.
ROTFL
C’mon, Norm, some psych majors make a lot more than other snake oil salesmen.
WOW! old Jebbie certainly received much publicity today!! (Oct 29, 2015)

Jeb Bush: F. Bush was plain awful. He couldnât dent Rubio. He couldnât dent Trump. He appeared alternatively bewildered and angry. He sided with the members of the media rather than doing the right thing and tearing them apart, like the other more intelligent candidates. Heâs toast. Rubio had the unkindest cut of all: his campaign manager said he wouldnât critique Bushâs performance because it spoke for itself. Ouch.It was not a good night for Jeb Bush

A Day Which Will Live In INFAMY!! (at least for most of the Bush Clan, the wives will once again have to pretend that they are shocked, crestfallen, even verklempt).
20 years ago a family shrink was mandated into my divorce.
I’m convinced the psyche freak didn’t want to help resolve any issues. Instead he did everything in his power to bill as many insurance hours as possible.
[That psych major needs to see a reality therapist or put her bong down. Methinks Mommieâs dearest snowflake is in for a bad surprise.]
You are just mean, Norm.......but in a very enjoyable way.
Wow! One out of 25 have a job in their field of study, most of them professors, and they still cannot do the arithmetic (or they don't want to).
I don’t see it mean per se. I see it as fulfilling the needs of the entitled. They NEED to be mocked like the devolved garbage they are. So it’s more a service thing really... ;)
Whats really fun is encountering them in the wild and doing it when they are too stupid to do anything but stand there openmouthed and to gutless to defend their position without a blankie and a keyboard. They just swear a lot ;)
[#ThisPsychMajor will count her chickens before the eggs are laid.]
Even before the rooster has bonked the hen.
LOL! Great come back.
