Hmmm, thinking, thinking, thinking... Just suppose some illegal, from some disease ridden Third World toilet, heads north, fleas and all, and shares those fleas with something else with warm blood?
This isn't rocket science.
The first is the resistance TB has gained since the increase of AIDS cases has lead to the massive increase in Anti n biotics especially among the homosexuals infected with the HIV retrovirus. Antibiotic resistant TB has flourished among active homosexuals and Aids patients.
Second LOTS of TB with the immigrant populations. Remember, these are not immigrants from Sweden and Germany they are from the most impoverished countries in the Western Hemisphere, for sure. We have also imported millions of refugees from Somalia, Syria, Western Africa, Asia. May have never had even the most basic immunizations and they are often infected or open to infection from disease long though of as extinct in this country.
Also, we have to use every weapon against unrestricted immigrant invasion, including fear of possible infection from the filthy hoards.
According to the CDC, there have been 14 cases over the last three years (2012, 2013, 2014, no data for 2015, yet). Of those 14, there has been one death. It's easily treatable with antibiotics if discovered soon enough.
Note, don't get me wrong, I know there are more diseases coming across our border from the south, but the Plague is simply not one of them.
I have heard that plague has always been found in some rural parts of New Mexico in the rodent population. Has this kid traveled there recently?
I did not mean to infer that YOU thought bubonic plague was brought here by immigrants. I was just making a comment that it wasn’t. I just commented on the opening post, and it just so happens it was yours.

We had pretty much eradicated TB here in the US. However, with the hordes of un-vetted third-worlders flowing in here TB has once again reared its ugly head, along with some other diseases, some of which we’ve never seen here before.

AND it’s not super-rare in Colorado; we nearly always get a few cases every summer, usually (but not always) from idiots that let their dogs romp around chasing prairie dogs in infected colonies.
Even most of the the idiot libs trying to “save” these vermin know better than to touch the damn things.
I live about 30 miles north of Heppner. Not much there but a town and a whole lot of hills, valleys, and some forests. Probably picked it up from a flea or tick. Lots of mice, rats, and rabbits in that area.
More likely it is a result of the drought and heat over the left coast recently. Conditions which seem to favor the rodent/flea vector interacting to a greater extent with people.

Geez, all this for a case of plague? Take a look at the map in #21. New Mexico is ground zero and commonly has several cases a year in humans. The news is usually in the local news section of the ABQ Journal and not on the front page.
Some common sense precautions are all that are needed to protect yourselves — make sure pets have flea protection, treat burrows with flea powder and never pick up dead or dying rodents (e.g. ground squirrels, rabbits, etc.). Plague, if caught early, can be treated with antibiotics.
A much more dangerous and deadly disease is the hantavirus which is present in urine and feces droppings from small rodents like mice. It has no cure and death comes from respiratory failure. Local hospitals can provide supportive care but even then there is a 50% or greater chance of death.
I think that Chicago plague moved to Washington, D.C. about seven years ago.

Les Stroud did an episode of Survivorman in the southwest and was talking about the disease. He even ate a rodent he caught but made a point of not touching it and making sure it was well cooked.
Outbreaks are common on Native American reservations, I’ve read. Reservation doctors are familiar with it and it’s treated quickly.
Problem is when big city doctors aren’t familiar with it and don’t know what they’re dealing with.
In The Agony and the Ecstasy, author Irving Stone notes that Michelangelo contracted plague, but recovered from it, even as others were dying all around him.
yeah, the rodent that was ‘caught’ very likely was bought at a pet store just for this episode- Les isn’t an idiot- he wouldn’t risk his life for a show- He also woukldn’t know if a wild rodent had hunta virus- which is very deadly as well, and is an airbourne virus that can be stirred up easily into the air=- I just can’t see him taking the risk- I think a lot of these ‘reality’ shows are actually carefully orchestrated to appear real, but aren’t-
