The media always reports these studies in such a misleading way. Even assuming (which I don’t) that the study is accurate they report that eating processed meat daily will “increase your chance of getting colon cancer by 18%”. The average person hears that and thinks it means 18% of the people who eat it will get colon cancer”. In fact, it means if 5% of the population will get it, 6% of those who eat processed meats will get it.

Exactly - You stand m ore of a chance getting cancer from feeding a woodstove in the winter- than you do from eating processed meat-
The who tried to equate eating meat with smoking cigarettes- what a lie that is- smoking raises your risk far greater than eating meat- far more-
a 1% increase is nothing- absolutely nothing- 6% is so low a risk as to be nearly non existant- Now, had it raised the chance of getting cancer fro m5% to 25% then yeah- perhaps think about not eating processed meat- but raising it to 6%? Pfft!
