South Carolina school officer fired, but more fallout possible

Ben Fields' seven years as a school resource officer are over. But the fallout from his tossing a student across a classroom may be far from over.

The FBI is looking into whether the former South Carolina sheriff's deputy committed a crime. And the FBI and U.S. attorney's office are looking into whether the student's civil rights were violated.

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said he fired Fields because the deputy threw the student at Spring Valley High School.

"The fact that he picked the student up and he threw the student across the room -- that is not a proper technique, and should not be used in law enforcement," Lott said.

Change the races of the officer and the student there would be no outcry. In fact, the officer would be commended for putting the punk in her place.

America’s decline began when we abandoned the tar-pot, the feather-bag, and the fence-rail.

He could have dragged her seat out of the room, with her sitting in it. Lock her out of the class and deal with it in the hallway. Let her sit in the hallway if she doesn’t want to get out of her seat.

Why on earth would one leave a liberal uncaged to go elsewhere wreaking destruction? They are a two legged virus and must be contained.

I'm glad they stopped this guy before he caused any real damage - like a serious back injury. I hope he receives the remedial training he so desperately needs.

Proper technique is critical when throwing students across classrooms.

The student hit the lottery!

Oh, yes. And once the amount is announced, the next student who is asked to do something will think, "Well, if I'll just refuse those directions, maybe I'll cash in too."

tossing a student across a classroom

Tossed? I saw dragged. Did I miss something?

If you're dragged by an officer after breaking the law and then refusing to comply, and it's not across a field of broken glass . . . well just cry me a river, honey. What's the officer supposed to do?

So when does the student get to meet Obama, like Clock Boy did?

And why, pray tell, when someone is resisting arrest, must the cops keep a “hands off” stance? Is this going to now be official police policy...ONLY, of course, when dealing with blacks?

Sez who?

Tar and Feathers is an ancient American tradition, practiced with gusto and to good effect by our great forefathers. Miscreants treated to the honor seldom repeated their misconduct.

That I totally agree with. I just think that todays liberal feels no shame or remorse so I see no point to it. It’s like trying to reason with the AIDS virus. AIDS, like liberals, simply kills and destroys.

Fields should be given a medal and Lott should have his ass kicked into the next county.

Resource officers will just do nothing if the student refuses to comply

What I'm saying is that resource officer can't refuse to do something. When the teacher calls for security assistance, it's passing the responsibility to security. If that person does nothing and other students get injured, they're legally responsible.

I was at that dance for seven years. Thought I was stretching my luck, so stopped my grand adventure in inner city schools.

Maybe the following:

1. Bring the principal and several other teacher witnesses to the classroom. Remove all other students from the room so they can’t interfere.

2. Make sure the camera is filming everything.

3. Warn the belligerent that if she doesn’t stand up and put her hands out to be cuffed within one minute, she will be Tasered.

4. Start the verbal 60-second countdown. The film will show she has ample time to comply as you count down.

5. If she does not comply, use the Taser to knock her out so that she can be removed from the classroom.

Civil rights violation? You have a civil right to disrupt class? To refuse to comply with directions from the teacher, an administrator and ultimately an officer?

Man, what a twisted worldview liberals have created. Enable ignorant savages and punish those who dare challenge them.

Sure. But back then, they were not functionally retarded either. Liberals feel no shame, no guilt and no remorse. So why try shaming them? You would have identical results tar and feathering a rock. The rock doesn’t care either.

Guessing mom should start saving it, she will need it for her little darling's future bail postings.

The girl in the video is currently living in foster care, because both her mother and grandmother recently died.

The officer was justified to attempt to remove this sick kid. She would not obey the command to leave the room. She hid behind the chair and had to be removed from it and struck the officer. That was the only way the officer could do it. She was not thrown but dragged away from the immediate area to be handcuffed and arrested. The officer did his required job and the student should be expelled. She should be charged and placed in jail.

Problem is we are run by King Obama’s communists empire. The officer will suffer something beside losing his job and the corrupt communists club will strike again.
