They are trying to prove that they are "oh so" understanding, non-discriminating, inclusive and multicultural. They are willing to get their throats cut to prove it. No Muslim nation is safe for anybody from the West. And what mocking, nasty joke that was pulled on those people.

The 2.4 million Brits who go to Turkey each year (there are many more Germans and Russians) go because the beach resorts on the Mediterranean coast are heavily promoted by travel agencies as a cheap and accessible package destination, taking the overflow from the overcrowded resorts further West in the Med. Most who go on these trips are uninterested and unbothered by the nature of the countries where the beaches happen to be and the political context - it's just a beach. Thailand etc much the same.
