To use your empty glass analogy I would say that so far as electoral politics is concerned, the glass is bone dry and crawling with leeches. BUT, and this is the important point, there are a whole lot of other glasses, most of which are full. I also categorically reject this sort of binary choice between electoral politics and civil war. Which is just a choice between losing and losing badly with a lot of dead people. So let’s try sanity and not go there.

What I challenge people to do is to take a breath and think about what ends we want to achieve. Electoral politics is a tool for an end in my view, not an end in itself. It doesn’t exclude the use of other, better tools. If your objective is financial security, I would suggest that taking Financial Peace University is far more likely to achieve that than a lifetime of voting. If the goal is raising righteous children, then the weekend you spend volunteering at aChristian youth camp is going to deliver far more than a lifetime spent in electoral politics.

That’s all good.....That’s life...Life is what you make of it.

Politics is a entirely different matter. When politics fails, it often leads to a next step.

One of those steps is warfare, either internecine, or government to government. The other option is to submit to whatever authority emerges from the failed political system.

In other words, war is the result of failed politics and always has been so of course it follows that if a country’s political system becomes corrupt and this corruption cannot be dealt with through the electoral process because that too is corrupted, then pray tell, what is the answer?

Obviously, the “ends” we want to achieve in life are different then those in politics. Politics only sets the stage that you use to pursue your dreams and desires, or your ends.

If we did not have politics, we would be inclined to invent it, so it’s not possible to eliminate it. But it would be foolhardy and vain to think that politics always works or that democracy is the best form of government.

What you see today is the result of gradual changes in the “Republican” form of government that we were given by the founders. It is a limited democracy. All democracy is local, not necessarily national.

They have bastardized it into a European style democracy. We may as well have a Parliament!

How then can you fix it through the electoral process alone?

You can’t....

I have been trying for 45 years.

The only path forward is the Convention of States. If that fails, there will be warfare. If it succeeds there will be warfare.

The only way to avoid warfare is to submit.
