The implication that priests are gay is an overreach and error.
Certainly it is true that the RC priesthood was infiltrated by gays in the decades after WWII. That is the primary reason for all the abuse cases that have surfaced in the past half century. They were not pedophiles, they were gays who preyed mostly on young, post-pubescent males.
Most of those who were implicated and were actually guilty of these charges are long gone. Some of them are in their 70’s or 80’s. The charges are mostly about 20-40 years old.
So, it is not true that ‘priests’ are gay; since the overwhelming majority are not gay.
I suppose this canard will still be going around 3 centuries from now. Just like the exaggerated numbers of people killed in the Spanish inquisition - which was a government program, not perpetrated by the church.

Untrue. Was it compromised and used that way? Yes. Was that ALL it was? No.
