Ahead of GOP Debate, Two Ex-Disney Workers Displaced by H1B Foreigners Speak Out for First Time
Breitbart ^ | 28 Oct 2015 | Matthew Boyle

[...] But when Disney lets go of more than 250 employees at once, something doesn’t add up… These highly specialized tech fields yield average salaries in the $100,000 range, but for the younger, foreign workers their median salary is about 62,000 — some even less, according to published reports. In response, Disney acknowledges it outsourced Powers’ and Perrero’s jobs to Indian workers [...]

“And we need to stop issuing H1-B visas for a while, at lest.”

If I were a candidate, I would actually come out FOR H1B visas if and only if the 4 year agreement between the company and the person getting slave wages for 4 years was waived. Most people aren’t aware of that little nugget of information ... people coming in on an H1B are forced to stay at the company sponsoring them for 4 years.

It’d be funny to see any of these candidates defend that 4 year rule let alone Americans getting replaced with lower cost employees.

If you’d eliminate that sickening 4-year rule, we’d get new tech workers coming in from overseas and a temporary dilution of the market of course ... however, once they learn what they’re really worth, they’ll quit the sweatshop that screwed them and move on to greener pastures (and pay/competition would increase ... ones not so good at their craft wouldn’t go anywhere).

It’s indefensible that these visas have that 4 year rule. I could see something like 1 year IF the company is paying them a fair amount for moving expenses and giving the employee an option to quit if they pay back the moving expenses at a pro-rated rate, but 4 years clearly translates into “fixed slave wages” in my opinion.

Just eliminate them, period . . with the underemployment and people out of the labor market, out of 330 million, we don’t need technical et al workers.

Let them get jobs in their own damn countries

We’ll only let them in if they’re legitimately named Peggy. :)

The only reason we needed them was because of the dumbed-down education that liberals have imposed on American kids. Fix that and we’ll rarely, if ever, need foreign workers.

Thank you for the truth about Disney and "Gay Days" as well as Disney's sponsorship of many Christian events.

These knee-jerks on FR can be real a$$holes sometimes.

Disney has the ability to stop people from using their name. They have done so in the past with conservative groups.

You make a good point.

This skews the market.

Plus a minimum wage for these persons, more like what they would pay a recent college graduate.

Plus sponsoring organizations must offer the existing person the recent graduate wage plus 15% or so because of the experience.

But I hate legislating what private company HR departments can do. We need less regulation. Let the market work it out. Keep the American citizens first.

But if we must have this program, lets keep the American worker in mind.

The Disney corporation needs to be dismembered. It has become an evil corporation.

(And congrats for talking about something other than drugs.)

Perhaps I have been lucky, but I have never once been displaced by an H1B. I consider it a combination of luck and attributes: I tend to be a very congenial and verbally/written communication guy, and a real go-getter. Not saying you weren't -- but this is what has worked for me.

I also seem to be specializing in Federal Contractor IT these days, and the security clearance issues are helpful at fending off H1B's. I think green card is the minimal qualifier for Fed contracts.

Ditto. I'm no big fan of Disney, but for crying out loud -- Disney couldn't stop Gay Days without being sued from here to Christmas. And I have been to WDW during Gay Days -- it is disgusting, absolutely disgusting. But if Disney tried to prevent it, it would be the end of Disneyland and WDW.

Then do not vote for Ted Cruz. He wants to increase H1-B visa’s five times.

Ziravan: Thanks for posting the mouseowners forum—had not seen that before.

I have a video from a Florida News Station interviewing these workers. Really something to see! :(

Three of the major differences between Donald Trump and Ben Carson: 1. Carson favors illegal aliens, Trump does not. 2. Carson hasn’t built anything, hasn’t created jobs while Trump has. 3. Carson has as link to Farrakhan, Trump does not.

“But if we must have this program, lets keep the American worker in mind.”

I agree 100% :-). If there really is some kind of “crisis” where companies in the USA don’t have enough STEM workers, then I am all for the H1B program so long as they do away with that slave-driving 4 year nonsense.

If H1B proponents are looking out for the interests of Americans, then they should frame the whole H1B debate this way instead of yelling “racist” when people question their motives.

Like I said earlier, I can see something like a 1 year retainer since it is expensive to move someone, but this 4 year garbage is sickening.

Engineering salaries are damaged by the whole H1B program. The only thing that program does in my field is create a whole bunch of panic mode mop up work when companies get too cheap to pay people what they’re worth.

When some HR idiot can chain a person to a cube for 4 years at 60% of what they are worth (and people figure out what they are worth rather quickly), quality is going to suffer. Of course, your average HR person is a flaming liberal without a care for anyone but their selves and their sicking ideology. H1B visa holders allow liberals to exploit people for their careers as well as their political message.

If any of these Republican candidates have a brain, they’d ask why H1B holders are forced to work at the same place for 4 years. That’ll get people talking :-).
