Good for you! If we continue to teach our children common core math, we won’t have any folks like you anymore. When I got my degree, we had to complete complicated math by hand. I have helped a few people that are in college now and they just learn what buttons to push on a calculator, and what they are missing is the logic behind the math.

One has to look very deeply into the power structure of the US to understand the motivation behind common core math. This is the way the elites of this country insure that their own children become much better educated than the commoners. Think of it this way and it will all fall into place.

In public schools, we are teaching children that math is hard, too hard for them to understand. Learn the answers by rote and do not think for yourself.

This is why DW and I are paying substantial amounts to send our grandchildren to a private school. It is a sacrifice, but they have never heard of "common core". They do learn multiplication tables, that scientific and technical problems have answers, and that they can work out these answers.

We may not live to see it, but they will be leaders in their generation.
