The new ceiling is on account of the new tubs plumbing developing a leak:-(

I have the leak repaired, I think.

About 18 tears ago Mrs alfa6 and I redid the kitchen. We stripped everything to the studs and floor joists except, you guessed it, the ceiling. Oh well:-)

The old dropped ceiling was added on the the original plaster and lathe ceiling before we moved in back in 1976.

The plan is to pull down the dropped ceiling and remove most of the 2x4s holding up the sheetrock. Then remove a most of the old plaster and lathe, especially under the tub area to lessen any chance of having mold.

The I will build a soffit over the existing cabinets to cover the difference in height. In the end what I hope to end up with is sort of a vaulted ceiling type effect, sort of maybe.

This will be another Gunny Highway project, kind of my specialty.

Improvise, Adapt and Overcome.

With luck it should only take 3 or 4 days.

Bwaaaa haaaa haa ha.

But that almost never happens

Y’all Have a good time and say hi to every body for me.

Best regards to all
