The planning stages for TCMS XI are in the works. At this point the plan is to hold the event in October 2016. (Yes, I know that is a looonnnggg way away!) The range we are considering is Hiciksville Range, in Gatesville. The closest lodging we could find is in Whitney.
We have already had one recon trip, which was not very productive due to heavy rains. The entire recon crew checked out one of the places we are considering staying. The majority of us fell in love with the place, even though it was a gloomy weekend. It made for some fun joking about being the perfect place to film a horror movie, especially with the creepy & trashy road to the resort. We all agreed that the pavilion was awesome; it is big enough to hold all of us without bumping into each other.
NYTexan & BuckeyeTexan checked out the other place. I liked it from looking at their website, but was not impressed with the pictures that Buckeye sent me. She & I are going to do another recon so that I can see it in person. There is also one more location we will look at. The one negative for both of those places is the size of their pavilions ~ we need lots of room to move & mingle.
Next week Eaker, humblegunner and I are going to Hicksville Range for a look see and discuss pricing.

As of noon 1/8/16, Scott told me there were 3 rooms in the village.
2 have 2 queen beds and the the one I took has a King and a futon couch
I just reserved Canyon Cottage #2. Not sure yet who will be staying with me but at least I’m good to go.
Unless it rains 10” again. LOL!

Ohh you missed the recon trip, I think it was 18” in one night and we survived in high style :)

I did. I couldn’t get from here to there. Roads were blocked because of high water. I was ready to go and then looked at the satellite pics that morning.
I’m coming next time...hell or high water. Unless it’s TOO high! LOL!

As luck would have it I is off that weekend, woo hoo!
So I plan on being there Saturday for sure, Mrs alfa6 is questionable at this time do to health issues. Not sure she could stand the drive. With a we bit of luck i iwll be able to make it for the Friday and Saturday night festivities.
Might be looking for a spare bunk if it is just me, we will see.

FYI - This place has RV hook-ups.
It’ll be the safest place in three counties, I’ll tell you what.
What actual money do I need to come up with right now to secure a room? If I do not, what options might there be to double-occupy a room? I trust people like mylife and BuckeyeTexan not to molest me in my sleep. Not so sure about humblegunner, tho. :)
