It was a rainy morning when Ted Cruz arrived for the first of five stops on his Iowa schedule. He could barely squeeze in the door. So many people were stuffed in the three-room coffee shop that some opted to stand outside in the drizzle rather than jostle for position indoors.
Its an old campaign trick to pack a small room rather than swim in a large one, but the size of this crowd seemed to surprise even the organizers. Its a good problem to have, Cruz said with a smirk.
Cruz skipped his stump speech and instead spoke to, shook hands with, and signed autographs for every person there, scribbling his name on copies of the Constitution, the Federalist Papers, a homemade God and Country shirt and his most recent book. And after about an hour, he climbed into the front seat of his Iowa state directors Dodge Dakota and opened up to POLITICO about the state of the 2016 campaign.
Theres no other candidate in the field who has a national team that is comparable to the team of conservatives that has coalesced around this campaign, he said.

Ted Cruz does not smirk!
I started reading that and the first thing that popped into my mind was a horrible list of Ted Cruz/Chuck Norris one liners, Ted Cruz does not smirk, the world already knows what is coming. (or something along those lines)

Good catch. People do not analyze the wording in an article. The word smirk has negative connotations. It is how the media colors all of its stories. Subtle but effective.
My favorite example was in the late 70’s or 80’s in New Orleans. The local rag, the Times Picayune, had a story about protesters at Lee Circle demanding the statue be removed. The story said a large crowd but the photo showed about three people. They screwed up by printing the photo. They probably did not make that mistake again.
This is a war and people who do not understand that are going to be buried. Harsh but true.

You got to love the tone of the headline, “Can you imagine that S.O.B. Cruz is deviously trying to get one over on his opponents in a political race?! The jerk even has a plan to do it!”

Well, Cruz didn’t get to be a Debate Champion at both colleges; he learned how to be prepared (for anything). This is exactly why I support him. I want somebody who is quick on their feet, and steeped in the knowledge of what works and what doesn’t.

I hope he’s the nominee just because I want to watch him wipe the floor in the debates. Better than football.

No candidate in the race knows better how to run a campaign.
While I’m not a big fan of Cruz’s top strategist (Saul Anuzis) he says that there is no candidate better at plotting his own campaign tactics.

He’d better not try to “pick off” Trump or I’m done with him. If Trump goes down on his own, fine but if not Cruz should run on his own merit.

Overall a good read on Cruz's campaign.....he does have an outstanding team and they've anchored themselves in his court pretty much 24/7....I've been watching for a long time and nothing happens unplanned...pretty remarkable how they operate and fun to watch their moves...
