Thanks for the info again :)
You’re right. The basic groups will be hard enough for me to learn!
Catholics are like anyone else, believe. The great, the good, the bad, and the very bad :)
I love when people say I’m (any religion) by birth or i’m a cultural (any religion)
Religion isn’t DNA. And it’s not having parties for certain religion’s holidays.
This country is lost. I have been in the past so my hope is each person finds their way back to God,.
Except for Maryland and the South, Catholics tended to come in later waves, and some weren't treated very well. I can tell they (some) still carry the bitterness of it, my Irish acquaintance, for a few generations. Some are reticent to talk about it.
You have agonized over the country then. It does seem lost. Faith in God is our only hope. Sometimes I'm sorry I became disillusioned and lapsed. Then I think maybe I should try to go back. It was hard having been raised a Protestant, also divorced many years. I didn't feel like I fit in. I did make several nice friends but most of them have died.
I'm beginning to think all of Western Civilization is lost because it surely seems like it is too late except for faith in God. I didn't know what to make of this pope, was starting to think negatively but not say anything. Then today when I read how well worn his bible was and how he encouraged young people to read their bibles, not let the dust accumulate, and study in groups, it was SO refreshing.
I doubt a lot of young people even have a bible or care to read it.
When people ask me if I’ve been a Catholic my whole life I say not yet.
