The Bushes are burning as they consume the news.
Bush family patriarch George H.W. Bush is bewildered, alarmed and irritated, the New York Times reported over the weekend, that his son Jeb is going so poorly in a Republican presidential primary battle dominated by Donald Trump. The 41st president summoned his son George W., the 43rd president, Jeb and Bush money men to Houston for meetings Sunday and Monday to sort out what has gone so wrong that Jeb is now cutting staff.
They didnt have to look far for an explanation. All they had to do was listen to Jeb on Saturday in South Carolina.
If this election is about how were going to fight to get nothing done, then I dont want any part of it, the candidate said. . . . Ive got a lot of really cool things that I could do other than sit around, being miserable, listening to people demonize me and me feeling compelled to demonize them. That is a joke. Elect Trump if you want that.
I dont want any part of it? Ive got a lot of really cool things I could do? Elect Trump if you want? The self-described joyful tortoise may have just delivered the most petulant political speech since the future 37th president said You wont have Nixon to kick around anymore.
Bush is correct that Trumps campaign of insults has made the 2016 GOP primary race an ugly affair. But his response suggesting hed take his ball and go home rather than sully himself is precisely what has sunk Bushs candidacy so far. Angry voters want a fighter, and Bush, justifiably dubbed low-energy by Trump, doesnt seem to have it in him.

... Ive got a lot of really cool things I could do?...
Really cool things? OK Jeb, don’t be bitter. Get on your skateboard and push off in another direction.
I think the American people have had enough Bushes over the
years. (Nothing against the Bushes!) The time arrives for retirement for everyone and for Jeb to get on with doing all those cool things he talked about recently. Barbara
really didn’t want him to run, bless her!
Sorry. The spacing on this thing is not working right!
Maybe God is still mad at him for letting them torture Terri Schindler Schiavo to death.
Just a thought ...
A fellow who defends 0bama to the hilt is complaining about Trump’s rhetoric? Give it a rest, Milbank. Jeb tanked his own campaign by being Jeb and no one else is responsible.
True. Also because people don’t want yet another Bush in the WH.
First and foremost, Americans have had it with Political Correctness and Bush supports open borders. Also, we’ve had two failed President Bushes and Americans see no reason to believe why Jeb Bush would be any different.
I have to take umbrage with that statement. I don't think telling the truth is at all ugly, especially when I think back to the lies that Democrats spread about Republicans and all who oppose them.
He is a GOPeahen and we are through with them.
Jebby looks like he just stepped off the short-bus while feeling irritated at having pooped his pants.
Because he’s a douche?
Trump only seems to be so insulting because the media has hammered that home time and time again....
Here is my idea of bombastic and/or outrageous...
1.Being lied to when told you can “keep your doctor”
2.In less than a year having millions of illegals recently let into the country, for the sole purpose of allowing them to vote in the 2016 elections.
3.Having sanctuary cities that make them much more dangerous.
4.Being told Benghazi was the result of a video
5.Ambassdor Stevens never having an email for extra security responded to by Hillary, but all of Blumenthal’s responded to
6.Hillary always referring to Amb.Stevens as “Chris”, as if they were like BFF. But finding out she never had a conversation with him after she appointed him to Benghazi.
Calling someone ‘low energy’ is far from bombastic
The list is endless, I’m sure others can add much more to it.
It had Jeb Bush in it.
No more Bushes.
No more Clintons.
Can America learn? (Please?)
The Bush candidacy was always an exercise in hubris. The idea that we would have a third President from the Bush family within 25 years is ludicrous. And to add insult to injury, the Bush 41 and 43 administrations were flawed to put it mildly. Why would anyone on either side of aisle want a third Bush in the WH? It is bad enough that another Clinton will be on the ticket.
He’s the dork standing at the rear of the short bus, licking the windows.
Line up your dolls, dress them much like the GOP-e base....you know the commoners, WTP) and take aim at them individually. It’s not every candidate who comes out of the starting gate telling their base he really doesn’t need them to get elected. AND, it is not every candidate who constantly attempts to shove down the throats of AMERICANS the garbage you regurgitate. No Jeb, no Jib, no how! Go back to your family and firing range practice. You might attempt to purchase a pair of big boy pants, too. I was mistaken to call you Beaver’s friend, Whitey. You are definitely Gilbert.
It’s fairly obvious what’s wrong with his campaign. As a candidate, he sucks out loud.
Not familiar with Leave it to Beaver but i assume that the latter is worse :)
as for everything else, I wholeheartedly agree.
What has sunk Jeb’s candidacy is that he is a lousy candidate that nobody wants to vote for.
