Not quite. It's Texas conservatives that are redefining the GOP in this state. Ted Cruz didn't set out to oust the GOPe in Texas. He ran for the Senate just being himself. IMHO he is simply the recipient.

First. it was not my personal assessment that Cruz had “hijacked” the Texas GOP...George W. Bush stated that Cruz had hijacked the state GOP and was trying to do the same nationally.
As for the State having become intrinsically conservative by which Cruz benefited— it would appear that the subsequent elections of Cornyn and George P. Bush would belie that argument.
