Ted Cruz's Patience Is Tested by Trump, Carson

Ted Cruz could not have asked for a better political environment. A sizable portion of the Republican primary electorate is raging against the establishment, consistently showing support for outsiders and instigators. Party stars and career politicians have either dropped in the polls or dropped out altogether.

But Cruz isn’t leading this movement right now. Instead, Donald Trump and Ben Carson are battling to be the face of the 2016 “outsider,” dominating the polls nationally and in the early states.

Trump’s presence in the GOP contest has been beneficial, he said, “because it has helped frame the central issue in the primary as ‘Who will stand up to Washington?’ Now, if that’s the central issue, the next question is: Who has stood up to Washington? And my record is markedly different.”

...the Cruz camp believes it is built for the long run, with ground organization and infrastructure established beyond the four early voting states. In particular, Cruz is heavily invested in the slew of Southern states that vote on March 1, focusing campaign energy and resources on the so-called SEC primary where he believes his message and style resonate and where a trove of delegates will be up for grabs.

“We are in the unique position where we don’t have to win any of the first three states. Carson does have to win Iowa,” says Cruz spokesman Rick Tyler.

The campaign also believes Carson will eventually fade there as he is scrutinized more closely, and that Cruz will be able to absorb that support.

...Cruz will be closely watching the movements of the two frontrunners. There will probably come a time to go at them more aggressively, Tyler says, but the campaign feels comfortable waiting for now. “We’re always going to draw policy contrasts,” he says, calling Cruz the “Pavarotti” of conservative messaging.

I think the chart is pretty accurate. On Free Trade Trump got his rating because he doesn’t like trade agreements. I think he would like them better if they were negotiated by people that knew what they were doing.

The only bright spot is the Federal Reserve’s quantitative easing, but this glimmer is countermanded by his repeated support for bailing out Wall Street and the auto industry, and increased stimulus spending. Of particular concern is Trump’s belief that the government can use eminent domain powers to seize private property in the name of private economic development. This comes as no surprise, given his support for using eminent domain to profit his own company."

I love Mark Levin, listen virtually every night, but I take his “recommendations” about candidates with a grain of salt.

Drudge linked up Rush’s analysis Friday about the “script” in Washington, an analysis that is deeply disturbing because it is so spot on.

Rush mentions that the Republicans went through the charade of trying to appear in opposition to Obama’s Iran policy by way of the Corker bill when they were really doing the job for the donors who wanted Obama to succeed in implementing his Iran policy of getting rid of the sanctions.

The Republicans, INCLUDING Cruz, were in on the charade. Senator Cotton of Arkansas was the only Republican who voted against the Corker bill.

Since the issue of eminent domain is addressed in the Constitution & we have our highway & roads to thank for it it's a non-issue for me. I like Cruz's views but I don't think he is a leader. Thanks for sharing. Peace :)

Trump's Record on Free-market Issue: (from the Conservative Review)

• Trump supported the Supreme Court’s 2005 decision in Kelo v. City of London, allowing public authorities to seize private land for economic development by private investors; Trump said, “I happen to agree with [the decision] 100 percent.” (National Review)  This is no surprise given Trump’s attempt to use eminent domain in his own line of work. • Donald Trump has sought and received crony capitalist tax breaks for his commercial properties in New York. These tax breaks, and even an abatement, force the property taxes of other property owners to rise at the expense of the connected. There are two things that have bothered me about Ted Cruz. The Corker bill situation that you just mentioned and the fact that the republican senate fund raising organization (NRSC) that Cruz was vice chairman of, went after McDaniel in Mississippi. Yes, I understand that it was more than likely McConnell’s doing, but I believe he should have named names and resigned from the organization. That he didn’t do those things has always bothered me.
