New book — “Disciples” by Douglas Waller, discusses Bill Donovan, Dulles, Casey, Colby, and Helms. Seems to be a good book, but I haven’t had a chance to check it out.

We were talking about that ridiculous Robert Redford movie about Mapes and Rather, and All the President's Men came up in the conversation, and the writing talent and duplicity of Bob Woodward surfaced. Somehow I cited the book Woodward wrote based on "conversations" with the director while Casey was in a deathbed coma.
Wow. I can't remember the last time his name came up in any context, only that it's been a while... and now you tell me we're up on the hundredth anniversary of his birth?
Wow... I will light a candle on All Saints Day...
I miss sorely miss Mr. Reagan and the American-minded adults in his cabinet.
Jeanne Kirkpatrick and her Iron Lady English Prime Minister counterpart really knew how to deal with thug nation states.

Watch Yuri Besmenov videos on YouTube to correct that false optimism. All that spying achieved nothing. We "defeated" the USSR in Russia, but THEY defeated us here at home, where it counts much more.
