I trashed my beautiful silver ‘78 Z-28 after a night of partying at some girls house around 1986. Went to drive a buddy home in the rain while looking out a tiny cleared off spot in a totally fogged out windshield, on the way back to the party i went around a corner too fast, i hit the brakes and locked my wheels up and hit a curb head on, then through some guys fence and into his front yard. The curb pushed both front wheels back around 8 inches and destroyed the front frame assembly, the car was totaled without a single scratch on it.
learned my lesson that night.
The car was soooo nice, looked almost exactly like the one Spicoli trashed in the Fast Times movie.
I miss it...
I had a Green 76 Nova SS with white racing stripes in college. Fell asleep at the wheel driving home after a night in the French Quarter. Hit the median and flipped it three times. I woke up very confused. Still weep for that beast.
A good emergency clinic will quickly kick a patient beyond its capacity up to the nearest full-range emergency room. They don’t want to be sued!
I’ve been impressed by what can be done at our corner clinic, which is affiliate with the major hospital group in the area. One of my sons had croup - labored breathing, fever, etc., basically a heavy-duty cold - and they were able to give him a steroid breathing treatment, scan his lungs, check to see if he needed an antibiotic, in an hour or so. They called back in a couple of days to see if he was improving.
We have a General Practitioner, but we really don’t use him much, because we’re either after something quick like a summer camp physical, or we have someone sick over a weekend and the GP practice isn’t open, so we go to the corner clinic. We’re generally healthy people.
Our GP’s practice mostly does vaccinations and “I don’t know what this symptom means” stuff. I had a pain a couple of years ago, which he diagnosed as muscular stress, and sure enough, it cleared up after a couple of weeks of high-dosage Naproxen. He thoroughly checked out my 14-year-old and essential diagnosed “teenage-itis”!
Good. I realize there are a number of services which clearly aren’t hospital specific.
It should be noted, that hospitals aren’t real crazy about the types of things you just mentioned.
Yes, your GP or the local clinic is a goof fit for a lot of things.
Illegals love to use the local E. R. as if it were their GP. That’s a no no.
Glad you made it out ok.
did you get busted?
I was lucky that i had a friend that lived right around the corner, i threw the car in reverse and somehow got it to his house and was able to hide it in his garage for a month.
His parents were not too happy about that...
ended up parting it out and sending the rest to the junk yard.
Worst part (besides totally a sweet car) was that i had just bought 4 brand new Goodyear Eagle GT’s for it like a week earlier...on credit. ugh
Glad i did not hurt anybody and learned my lesson well that night.
I was 19.
Yea, it was Louisiana, they generally don’t believe in DUI as a concept.
Old Halloween joke...
Why do cemeteries have gates? Because people are just dying to get in!

oldie but goodie :)
