House Freedom Caucus “Caves,” Endorses Paul Ryan for Speaker
PJ Media ^ | 10/22/2015 | Walter Hudson

When the Tea Party kicked off in 2009, many previously disengaged citizens flooded the political process. They brought a wave of energy which eventually crashed against the rocks of political reality. As one of those citizen activists who traded a pitchfolk for a voter registration card, the subsequent elections and legislative sessions have taught me an important lesson. Anger and volume do not equal votes, and votes are all that matters.

That’s a lesson too many have yet to learn. For years, activists have pined for the ouster of John Boehner from his position as Speaker of the House. Now that Boehner is on his way out, they demand someone “pure” to replace him. But no candidate has manifested who both passes the principle litmus test and has the necessary support to both win the position and effectively lead the caucus. You need someone who most everyone believes in. But no such person both exists and wants the job.

This analysis over at Ricochet offers essential perspective. Author Jon Gabriel points out that Paul Ryan, sought by some for the job while opposed by others who claim he’s not conservative enough, doesn’t want to be speaker.

Rep. Paul Ryan has been repeatedly asked, encouraged, cajoled, and begged to take over the Speaker’s gavel when Boehner drops it. Ryan’s answers have been no, no, no, and hell no. But after another week of Republicans insisting that Ryan is the only human being in existence who can unite conservatives and RINOs, Tea Partiers and country clubbers, young reformers and Hill lifers, Ryan had enough.

He finally relented and said, sure, I’ll take the job … on three conditions:

Some members were outraged, as were many on talk radio, and (natch) the Internet. How dare he make demands on the people’s representatives! Never before has a Speaker ordered he not be ousted! He wants time with his family … he should be working 24/7!

How many times does Ryan have to tell you that he doesn’t want the damn job?…

Now that outrage has turned against the House Freedom Caucus, which has come out in support of Ryan for speaker. Commenters on the caucus’s Facebook post railed against the group for “caving.”

Of course, there’s a simple solution which would ensure that activists get what they want. They can go out and campaign to elect someone better. Such campaigning involves slightly more than a Facebook comment.

He wants time with his family, then he shouldn’t take the job. Military men and women are often away from their families to serve their country. They don’t get the choose.

The rules change concerned me. Like Boehner didn’t behave enough like insulated royalty. If members can’t toss the Speaker anymore he’ll rule with an iron fist.

Except for Sen. Lindsey Graham...who gets to spend time with the important men in his life, doesn't fulfill his Air Force Reserve service requirements, yet somehow gets promoted repeatedly instead of dishonorably discharged..

Ann Coulter’s column today is about Ryan.

Here’s an example: “Two years ago, Ryan bragged to a Catholic radio station: “I actually campaigned with Jack Kemp against a thing called Prop 187.”

“That “thing” was an overwhelmingly popular initiative to prevent illegal aliens from collecting government benefits. It gave Republicans their biggest victory in California in the last 30 years, was supported by a majority of blacks, a majority of whites, a majority of Asians and 31 percent of Hispanics.”

My God! Is Ryan brain dead? We are not a tyranny.

Washington DC crossed the self serving tipping point just after Newt Gingrich was dismantled bit by bit.

IMHO it needs to be scuttled as an institution thru the ballot boxes at every opportunity. Take em out like Cantor at every turn. Don't even give them the chance to lie to you like McConnell, Boehner, Landreau, McCain, Graham, Ryan, Bush, etc... do at every principled moment of action.

I am so sick of the Republicans in Congress.

No principles. No courage. No common sense. No sense of responsibility to their constituents.

They make me retch.

“..... FREEDOM CAUCUS ....”

THE WHOLE PLACE IS ONE BIG CORRUPTION CAUCUS.

I always vote .. but now I know it doesn’t matter.

These people .. just like all the others .. are complicit in the downfall of America.

And they wonder why 50% of the people don’t vote. When they never put good candidates who love the country and adhere to the Constitution on the ballot, they expect average 60 hour per week working people to do the jobs of politicians as well. GFY dude

Freedom Caucus. LOL!!!

They’re all Republicans and their specialty is appeasement and caving.

The GOP is the Party of Excuses. You would think that more people would be on to them by now.

"He finally relented and said, sure, I’ll take the job … on three conditions:

The House Freedom Caucus, the Republican Study Committee, and the moderate Tuesday Group all need to support me."

So all the so called "Freedom Caucus" had to do was NOTHING to keep Paul Rino out? That's it? All they had to do was NOT endorse this rino pro amnesty idiot to stop him. They didn't need to fight him, they just needed to do NOTHING... and they couldn't even do that.

The vast majority of Americans have failed to realize that our normal traditional political methods no longer apply. There is a real split between the elected “elites” and the so called electorate.

When they never put good candidates who love the country

************
We need a party that stands for something and candidates who will fight relentlessly for it. We also need people who don’t back off at the first sign of resistance; you can’t score points when you’re always playing defense.

We need political commandos with the fortitude of Navy SEALs who will stop at nothing to advance conservative interests. Those types of people will NEVER come from the Republican Party which is too compromised to ever be effective.
