For Donald Trump to suggest in his syntactically vague fashion that former President George W. Bush bears blame for Sept. 11, which occurred nine months after he assumed office; or for Donald Trump to revisit 9/11 to promote his thoughts on immigration, is frankly disgusting.
His remark about President Bush is an utter falsity, and it demeaned the reality of what happened that day.
In this week’s Wall Street Journal/NBC poll of Republican presidential preferences, Mr. Trump sits on top with 25%. The polling suggests that this 25% spreads across many layers of the electorate. 2. While 8 months is not very long, the office of president is something you assume ready to go. I don't recall candidates ever saying 'give four years' and after the first year, I'll do a great job.' Fair or not, the buck stops with the president from day one.
3. Most importantly, policies that Bush and his crowd supported for years before he became he president did play a large role in 9/11 being able to happen. Specifically, their cozying up to the Saudis and their disinterest in tough immigration enforcement allowed the visas for the hijackers to be issued and the visas to be overstayed. And of course JEB! was governor when Florida issued driver's licenses to a number of the attackers.
4. Trump has said repeatedly that he is not blaming GWB for 9/11 only pointing out that JEB!'s assertion that 'my brother kept us safe' was not entirely accurate.

Really, it’s hard to say Bush was president for 8 months. As most of us remember, the Left wouldn’t concede that Bush had won the election. There are many good reasons for Jeb not to be the nominee. That there is no left wing type of slander Trump won’t stoop to destroy his opposition speaks to his character, a birther and a 9/11 truther.
This is my problem with Trump. He has spewed left wing revisionist crap about 9-11, about the Fannie-Freddie led economic crash, and some other issues, all to hurt Jeb. It's foolish. Hurt Jeb from THE RIGHT (like he's doing on immigration) - but NOT from the left. This supports my thesis that Trump is in fact a creature of the left, who has very recently moved right on some issues.
If this were not the case, I'd be a big supporter. It is the case, and thus I'm not.
As the Republican nominee Bush gets security briefings so the 8 months to get ready is really closer to a year to get ready. Trump did not blame Bush he merely correctly pointed out to Jeb that 911 happened on W watch so Jeb claim the W kept us safe has a big (3,000 dead) hole in it. W’s open borders policies were not helpful either.

Trump won’t likely be the nominee. If he is, I will vote for him because he’s better than what the Democrats have on offer, but I will go the polling booth knowing not only is he not really a conservative, but also that he would almost certainly lose - and lose badly.
Well, Trump is using left wing talking points - sometimes radical left wing conspiracy lunacy. Trumpsters will support anything "the Donald" says or does, so yes, FR is beginning to sound more and more like some Democrat site. What I am starting to understand is that what you and I considered Conservative, you know that smaller government, economic growth kind of stuff, is not what most so-called conservatives had in mind.
They very well might, and they should.
I think you can make a case that in the 8 months that Bush was in prior to the attack, we weren't sufficiently prepared. But I think 9/11 had much more to do with the prior 8 years than with those 8 months.
