It's really easy to sucker the knee-jerk left -- a group so broad that it includes President Obama, Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook, Sergey Brin of Google, and Bill Nye the purported “Science Guy.” Ahmed Mohammed (or maybe his dad) just proved that by pulling off the Great Clock Caper in Texas, and now they are taking the money and running – to Qatar.
Taking apart a 1980s-era digital clock and putting it into a pencil case so that it bore some resemblance to a bomb, and then bringing it to school for a science fair was guaranteed to trigger a Zero Tolerance reaction. School administrators have been known to throw children out of school for chewing Pop Tarts into the shape of a gun, after all. Ahmed got exactly the reaction he expected, and with his evasive answers, even got arrested. Propaganda gold! The claim that he was being persecuted because of his dark skin and Muslim name was perfect for the progressive media narrative. Never mind all those other, non-Muslim victims of idiotic Zero Tolerance school officials.
As you no doubt know, in addition to meeting with tech luminaries, Ahmed got to the White House and met with President Obama. And less than 24 hours later, he and his family announced they were moving to Qatar, which outbid others anxious to shower boons upon the boy and his family:
“After careful consideration of all the generous offers received, we would like to announce that we have accepted a kind offer from Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) for Ahmed to join the prestigious QF Young Innovators Program, which reflects the organization’s on-going dedication to empowering young people and fostering a culture of innovation and creativity,”

America is such an intolerant and repressive place that it is quite understandable why Ahmed and his family would flee to Qatar. In Qatar, whose Constitutions first clause is Qatar is an independent sovereign Arab State. Its religion is Islam and the Shari’a Law shall be the principal source of its legislation, there is no religious freedom for infidels.
I think Ahmed the clock maker’s family prefers it that way.
I just wish they’d stay there.
I doubt his sisters will enjoy the same freedoms they had in the mean, Islamaphobic USA.
Enjoy your stay.
And don’t come back!
Good riddance.
scholastic accomplishment must be a very low bar in qatar. the kid took a digital clock apart.
Best news all week.
With any luck he will get into legal trouble there too, and will receive one of their extreme punishments.
Are these people American citizens? If so, they will be back at some point.
AMF! Don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.
RE: Good riddance.
Well not so fast.
If he is a US citizen, he can always come back. And note: QATAR is the place that took in the five Taliban terrorists in exchange for the deserter Bowe Bergdahl.
Who knows what “ideology” Ahmed will learn there and where he will put the “technology” he learns in service to?
Wait til they figure out bthat he can’t build a damn thing.
Thank God and Greyhound your gone ....[Roy Clark]
Those lyrics come to mind.
RE: I doubt his sisters will enjoy the same freedoms they had in the mean, Islamaphobic USA.
I kinda think she would prefer it there.
Heaven is what you want it to be.
I always say to myself, people who hate God will not be happy in heaven and hell is the logical place they go to.
Maybe he will get to build a real one while he is over there.
RE: Maybe he will get to build a real one while he is over there.
A real WHAT is the question.
I made it ambiguous on purpose. :)
Just a question....if you showed up at some science fair in Qatar and your project was a clock mounted in a briefcase...what exactly do you think the Qatar authorities would do? They’d apprehend you....hold you for a month in some private prison with no lawyers....and you’d have to explain why you were that stupid.
If you ask me....this kid’s family has really screwed up and picked the place where you really don’t want to do stupid things.
The entire incident smells, ya think?
