"Sharpton and I Have the Same Goal," Says Ben Carson, "Just Different Ideas on How to Get There." Ben Carson's April, 2015, article in National Review state: Last week, I had the pleasure of speaking at the National Action Network's (NAN) 17th annual national convention in New York City. NAN is one of the leading civil-rights organizations in the United States. It was founded in 1991 by the Reverend Al Sharpton to "promote a modern civil rights agenda that includes the fight for one standard of justice, decency and equal opportunities for all people regardless of race, religion, nationality or gender." Dr. Carson defended his actions, saying that we should not remain in our camps, but should reach out to the opposition. I agree with Jan Morgan, who said, "When you participate in an event organized by a racist thug, you validate him and give him credibility he does not deserve. Participating in this event is as repulsive to me as Obama meeting with and negotiating with Iran." Excuse me Dr. Carson, but Al Sharpton's only desire is to feed his lust for money and power. He is a far left liberal, filled with hatred and negative rhetoric for America, for whites, police officers, and for anything conservative.

Although Cruz is my preferred candidate, I have been interested in Carson, particularly since his rise in the polls.
I have YouTubed at least 10 of his speeches and interviews going back to long before he was a candidate. He is a man of faith, conviction and courage.
Yes, politics is a blood sport, Gene Eric (if that is indeed your name), and I am not angry, but a piece that simply spews hatred and is as unbalanced and untrue as this is not worth the click I spent on it.
We criticize the MSM for unfair, unbalanced, untrue reporting. Then some at FR embrace this drivel.
Watch him start tanking in 3..2..1
Carson strikes me as another stealth candidate, saying one thing only to do another if he wins the presidency.
Anyone who admires/respects Al Sharpton will never get my support.
White guilt is putting Carson where he is. This country does not need another colored President.
There’s a reason Carson never registered as a Republican until he accepted the GOPe offer for him to make a vanity run for president.
Should have said SOME of the same goals. If Carson really believes this, then why not ask Sharpton to run for President? dumb mive for Carson.
“He is a man of faith, conviction and courage.”
Nothing about this article is dishonest. All the links are there and you can read them all. Carson has been a very liberal democrat for the majority of his life. He has specifically said he left the party he had been in since 1985 (democrat before that), because he got mad at the way republicans were treating Bill Clinton and didn’t think Clinton should be impeached. Carson is no more a conservative republican than my St. Bernard when she’s hungry.
The subject of religion or the lack of it in presidential candidates and campaigns has been debated since the time of the founders.
In more recent times, recall the intense debates about JFK's Catholicism, and right here on the pages on this forum, the intense back-and forths on presidential candidate Mitt Romney's Mormonism.
Speculative comments on Obama's religious leanings (Christian or Muslim?) or his lack of any leaning at all pops up here regularly and have been for almost eight years.
Furthermore, I've seen no comment from you on the attacks against Donald Trump questioning his Christianity, spinning/distorting his comments on confession and deriding his and his family's membership in NYC's Marble Collegiate Church, one of the oldest continuous Protestant congregations in Northern America (1628).
Pray give me one good reason why Ben Carson's affiliation with a denomination regarded in many theological circles as cultish should not be discussed here.
The subject was brought up by me only as it relates to the primary, namely (and this is the whole point), the nation-wide evangelical voting block obviously is largely unaware that the pious Carson is NOT one with them theology-wise...a fact that Carson carefully avoids bringing up. Nor does the enemedia promoting Carson touch on it, either, although it has no compunctions dissecting and snarking on Trump's denominational affiliation.
Give me one good intellectual reason why this information (important to many folks in a primary even if not to you) is off-limits for legitimate discussion here on FR and I will cease and desist.

The left is playing it’s usual games, just a different version. They have already pushed Scott Walker out and are virtually ignoring Ted Cruz pretending his poll rankings are low and wanting us to assume he does not exist. They are still pushing losers so these losers can throw the race and once again give it to them.
The left is using its old tactics. They are, as usual, choosing our candidates. Already gotten rid of Walker and pretending that Cruz doesnt exist. This time, however, if they cant get a candidate to throw the election; they will put one of their own in, if not Hillary. I am not sure it would be Carson; probably Jeb. Of course, this is their subtle way of saying we have the power. It’s the same game; just a different version. The only way they have the power is to make us believe they have the power.
At FR no one, but no one, can change and evolve (except Donald Trump, of course).
People change their views. For instance in the past few years I have developed a deep antipathy towards the G. W. Bush presidency and I voted for him. In recent years my faith in God has changed. My practice of faith has changed dramatically.
Is it possible to accept people at their word when they say something? There are honest people who truly are growing, not stagnating. Could we have an open mind towards those who choose to grow and change or must we pop out of the womb with fully-formed with accurate opinions that pass muster with FR commentors and never change them?
Please improve your reading skills. I never said the topic was off limits, only that your argument is ugly and foolish - I stand by that statement.
Are you trying to stifle legitimate challenges to your silly objection?
You don't want to debate the issue I raised...and I don't want to hear from you again, either. So buzz off.

It is kind of a cool thing to stick to the topic - basic debate etiquette. Nice diversion.
Let me` explain how debate works, since you don’t seem to know:
You present a statement - in this case, you say Evangelicals should not support Carson because he is bla... , oh, excuse me, SDA.
I state, as I did regarding Romney, that his religion has nothing to do with his candidacy, because he is not running for pastor.
That’s how debate works - you make a statement, someone challenges the statement, you refute the challenge. But you, you run screaming to Mommy that the “bad boy is picking on you” and you have the nerve to claim I don’t want to debate! Unbelievable.
I will give you some help - suppose you explain why anyone should be concerned about Carson’s religious beliefs - how will being SDA negatively influence his presidency?
I am certain you don’t want to hear from me again - I challenge your ignorant statements and you don’t have the mental horsepower to respond, nor the emotional horsepower to endure.
LOL - you are EXACTLY what I thought from reading your original, foolishness in this thread: Lots of yap-yap-yap, lots of ignorance, zero substance. You are like a mop-dog; go crawl into somebody’s lap and beg them to pet you and call you sweet names, but if you come yapping around my heels, I’ll kick you.
Oh, I lookd up some of your posting history....just as I expected - more yap, little substance.
Your sycophantic trump worship is embarrassing (strong, protective hands on Trumps son??? REALLY? You infer all that from a picture?) SQUEAL!!!! What do you think about Justin Bieber??????!!!!
Yep, mop-dog.
