Irwin Schiff, imprisoned for his resistance to the federal income tax, died yesterday (10/16/2015).
Efforts by his son, the noted financial commentator Peter Schiff, to secure his release from prison so that he could die with his family were unsuccessful.
Schiffs sad passing illustrates an essential truth about the state: if you resist its orders, you will be dealt with by force.

Personal comment:
R.I.P., Irwin. I sat at Irwin's table -- and snapped this photo -- at the Tupper Saussy pretrial rally in Chattanooga years ago. The man was a patriot and a fighter for justice while receiving none, thanks to the abysmal IGNORANCE of much of the American public! A very bright guy and a fascinating raconteur, he knew more about what this country was SUPPOSED to be than nearly every one of the boot-licking self-promoters now infesting Washington.
If anyone deserves a peaceful eternal rest it is this man who got very little while here.
The man was a TIGER and indefatigable!
+memory eternal+ RIP
Any one interested in Mr. Schiff can bring up his reports on YouTube. A tragic loss...
A certifiable nut job and borderline anarchist.
RIP
Sad news. His book “The Biggest Con” set me on the road of distrust. R-I-P.
I have never heard of him can anyone tell me about him?
Break the law, go to jail.
Sorry he died, sad for his family.
“Break the law, go to jail.”
There’s a lot of that kind of talk here lately. Let them tell that to the Founders.
This will not end well.
He’s probably having a chat with the late/great Mark Scott about throwing himself under the juggernaut...
RIP
He was an anti-income tax crusader. He wrote three (at least) books arguing that no one legally owed income tax. His heart was in the right place, but his legal analysis was completely bogus; he served three separate prison sentences, and at least nine or ten other people who followed his "legal" advice wound up doing felony time for it.
RIP, to a man who fought an unjust, illegal and unconstitutional Amendment and the cancer it has become to our once great Republic.
A man whom opened my eyes to the belief of NEVER giving govt an inch; Freedom and Liberty are never returned voluntarily, unfortunately.
Our founders did away with debtors prisons because it makes no sense to jail someone then demand they pay up. Looks like things have come full round on the tyranny cycle.
I like the jubilee idea of all debts being forgiven every 7 years.
RIP.
Only problem with that is no one will give you a 3 year loan with only 2 years till jubilee.
Was not Wesley Snipes one that followed his advice?
I used to ocassionally hear Irwin Schiff on NYC radio back in the 70-80’s on the Bob Grant show. He was very intelligent, compelling, entertaining, and way ahead of his time . I’d trust Irwin more than I’d trust the gov’t.
Snipes, IIRC, followed another "guru," Larken Rose (who had an entirely different theory from Schiff as to why no one owes income tax, but one that was equally unsuccessful in court).
