I really don’t understand why the “analysts” are having such a hard time understanding what’s happening with Trump and to a lesser extend Carson... its really simple.
The political class has betrayed the nation and her people, and the republican base is beyond betrayed, The republicans have controlled the house in 2010, and still the the leftist agenda steamrolled, the excuse, They have the senate, in 2014 they take the Senate (should have taken it in 2012 but that’s another matter) and still nothing changes.
So you have an anti-establishment movement in general in the poulation because republicans and democrats have completely betrayed this nation and her people, and on the republican side you have an even angrier anti establishment group who have watched their party not only ignore them but call them names and do everything in their power to disavow and insult them.
So, on the Republican side you have no chance an establishment candidate, particularly one from this lot of boring folks, is going to break through... they are just viewed as traitors and democrats by another name.. The only establishment politician running with an ounce of personality and X factor is Christie, and he’s damaged goods, so he’s not going anywhere... Cruz has a very solid anti establishment argument he can make, but he doesn’t have the personality or X Factor to excite the electorate... So, you have Trump, and as I said a lesser extent Carson drawing the votes....
Trump will slowly continue to gain ground in the primary as the field thins out... Carson is a nice guy and a good man, but he’s not going to hold onto nearly 20% of the polling for long... he’s got the anti-establishment vote that isn’t sold on Trump now, but ever poll that asks second choice, nearly all of Carson’s backers list Trump... so as Trump wins them over, he will continue to grow.
On the Dem side you have a revolution going on too, but to a lesser extent, in the Dems have a huge problem with Hillary, she is so bad she makes the White Bread establishment republican candidates look good, but she has no x factor, is a nasty person does not inspire anyone... So as in 2008 you have an anti-clinton wing that is backing Sanders currently, but Sanders has no shot... Biden is the hopeful savior and he can try to triangulate himself from Clinton and Bernie and may wind up with the nomination even, who knows, but he won’t win the general.
The only way a Democrat can win the General is if the Republicans put up a weak candidate, and for all the claims you can lob at Trump, Weak isn’t one of them. He’s building a coalition that is going to cross the political divide that hasn’t happened since Reagan, is he a Reagan? Not hardly, but his support will be broad and cross the political spectrum. Blue Dog Dems will vote for him in large numbers... They’ve been betrayed by their party and taken for granted for too long.
Trumps numbers will grow as others fall away... but don’t think the GOPe will not get nasty trying to take him down. If Trump winds up with the nomination, it undermines their entire world.... so expect every dirty trick in the book to be played by them to keep it from him as it finally becomes evident that they are going to lose.
Trump is the only person who can beat Trump at this point.. its his to lose, whether we like it or not IMHO.
I don’t read Rolling Stone, so certainly didn’t hear it there. Why do YOU read it? It’s very leftist.
