Donations to Donald Trump’s Campaign Outpace Self-Funding

For months, Donald J. Trump has highlighted his credentials as a politician who was financing his own campaign for president.

No longer.

Mr. Trump revealed in a filing Thursday to the Federal Election Commission that the vast majority of the money he raised and spent this summer as he rose to the top of national polls came not from his own coffers, as it had in the spring, but from about $3.7 million in what he called “unsolicited contributions.” Some 74,000 donors pitched in an average of about $50 to help his campaign, he reported.

“I don’t need anybody’s money,” he declared when he announced his candidacy in June. “I’m using my own money. I’m not using the lobbyists. I’m not using donors. I don’t care. I’m really rich.”

Not so rich, however, that he couldn’t use some help nowadays.

Mr. Trump himself contributed only about $100,000 in in-kind contributions, including rent space that he donated and payroll expenses that he covered. That represented a huge drop from the spring, when Mr. Trump donated about $1.9 million to his campaign, financing the bulk of it himself.

It isn't rocket science. Many of us are willing to give a small donation if it's going to help a cause we believe in. Donating $20 or so makes a statement that we believe in what Trump's doing and will contribute our fair share. Isn't that what we do every day when a friend goes out front and assumes an expense and others decide to help?

Besides that money Trump has collected, I wonder how much there is in profits from selling Trump gear.

That Trump isn't spending much is the ultimate statement that he can deal with economic issues.

The largest obstacle to trimming the Federal budget is all the slugs and useless eaters that would have to be fired. Libs, affirmative action babies and so on and so on.............

Good point! And I would be willing to bet you, that if President Trump were to go on TV, tell the American people that he had spent the first month in office saying "YOU'RE FIRED!!" to useless bureaucrats and the parasitic blood suckers infesting our government, and a projected estimate of how much money that would save, and then ask the American people that if they could spare a little chump change, be it $10, $20 or $50 bucks to help the government meet it's expenses responsibly, if the American people saw in Trump a man who not only loves our Country but is doing what he can to clean up and reform the mess in Washington, I believe they would respond overwhelmingly.

He called them 'unsolicited' because he has had ZERO fund raisers, and 74,000 average Americans decided, without being harangued, pestered, called, or emailed to send Trump a small contribution.

What really pisses off the msm, is that 74,000 Americans voluntarily send Trump, whom they know is a billionaire, a few bucks, just to say, "I'm an American, and I WANT TO HELP IN MAKING AMERICA GREAT, AGAIN".

The msm can ESAD!

He accepts small donations because it makes people feel like they are part of the campaign and they are going to be more devoted because they have a little bit of skin in the game. He said as much in an interview a long time ago. He phrased it differently but you get the gist.

I’ve sent Donald Trump $20 twice over the past couple months through his website. I like to see liberal heads explode as they see billionaire Trump run away with this thing without even having to spend any of his own money.

Meanwhile Jebbie Bush is riding the Greyhound bus to his next sparsely attended rally at the Comfort Inn.

So Trump's campaign looks like it has spent in total under $5M to this point. That's about the same money that Jeb's campaign spent on commercials in New Hampshire. And after spending that money, Jeb's poll numbers went *down*.

Bush’s churn rate is amazing. He’s burning through cash so fast that he’s gonna have trouble even just holding on until the first actual primary.
