From the Secret Service website: "Protection is authorized by the DHS Secretary after consultation with the Congressional Advisory Committee. The Congressional Advisory Committee includes: Speaker of the House, House Minority Leader, Senate Majority Leader, Senate Minority Leader, and one additional member selected by the others."
Trump doesn't automatically get Secret Service protection. He has to request it from DHS and it has to be approved by congressional leaders. That's the same for all other candidates. Give Trump's standing in the polls then he almost certainly qualifies. So he should quit complaining and put in the request for it.
Then he really has nothing to complain about, does he? If he requests it and is turned down then he might have cause for complaint.

Donald Trump has really got guts. The first thing we noticed at the Norcross rally last Sat was the woefully inadequate security. It was worrisome. You walked right in. No metal detectors, only a few cops standing around in the back and a few up near the stage and I counted about 4-5 private security with Trump.
We went around the side of the building where the Trump SUV’s were parked and waited for Trump to come out the side door. There were one or two security guys standing by an SUV. When Trump came out he walked over to a small crowd and was shaking hands and signing autographs. Then when he was driving past us to leave some woman walked right up to his open window and threw something in the window. She almost got arrested but still it could have been anything. Mr. GG2 was just shaking his head. I told Mr. GG2 I hope he’s wearing a vest at these events.

The men YOU hire and YOU pay are far more likely to do a better job than those sent by ValJar and oh, the dark won. Why should an enemy send any to protect you and your family? WTP would be very angry should ANYTHING happen to TRUMP. Anger that might be shown in a variety of ways and cause a good deal of harm to many, including ourselves. The dam is about to break...it won’t take but a few more hits to do so
Me too. I was under the impression that all presidential candidates were entitled to SS protection as soon as they announced for President.

Indeed. How odd that you feel such antipathy toward people who simply request you use the paragraphs included in the original document.
If that were true then every Tom, Dick and Lindsey Graham would get Secret Service protection just by holding a news conference. You have to establish yourself as a serious candidate with a realistic chance of winning.
I thought the leading candidate is suppose to automatically get the Secret Service?
He needs Secret Service protection just from RINOs alone.
