Army National Guardsman Alek Skarlatos took a break from practicing in Los Angeles for Dancing With the Stars to travel to Sacramento, California, this weekend to visit his hospitalized pal Spencer Stone.
Skarlatos, Stone, and Anthony Sadler were all credited with helping to stop a gunman on a Paris-bound train in August.
Stone, a United States airman, has been in hospital since Thursday after being stabbed during a fight.
It was reported that Stone was stabbed trying to protect a girl who was being punched by her boyfriend after he enjoyed a night out with friends at Badlands dance club in the midtown area of Sacramento.
Although the club is mostly gay, Wednesday night is known as 'straight night'.
Eyewitness Eric Cain, who was working at A&P Liquor store at 21st and K Street, told Daily Mail Online that the stabbing was over an unidentified girl who then fled the scene with the two suspects.
'It looked like Spencer was defending her,' Cain, 38, said.
'I figured it was a girlfriend thing, I saw this girl get hit and then the whole fight, I figured it was a girlfriend dispute or something like that.
'I thought the girl was with him the whole time, the way he looked like he was defending her. And then she ends up leaving with the guys [who stabbed him].
Apparently dressed in 'pants and a tank top', the mystery woman can be seen getting into the getaway car with the two men in security camera footage from the liquor store that was released by authorities in a bid to catch the attackers.

There is a whole dissertation out there waiting for some sociologist/psychologist, but it boils down to relationships based on cycles of abuse followed by a honeymoon phase where the woman can essentially get whatever she wants. Some will even provoke the situation to get something they want.
The possibility exists that someone correctly read this man's chivalrous nature, and used it to set him up for an attack. If the attacker is Muslim, there is a clear threat to all of those involved in thwarting the train plot.

One of my associates some time ago told me this. He was at a bar in Sacramento and some “lady” began a conversation with him and the two continued to converse. He was a slight framed girly guy. When she left to go to the head, the bartender told him his “friend” was setting him up. Her deal was her thug boy friend would show up, see them together, accuse her of seeing another guy and batter the guy. They got off doing that to unsuspecting dupes. That could be the situation here.
He’s not gay. He was there on one of the straight nights. As weird as that may sound. Lol
I think the girl’s involvement with the thugs rules out Muslims and any kind of revenge attack for his heroic deed in France. As far as any other kind of set up (thugs doing it to mug somebody or even just for kicks) doesn’t pass the smell test for me. Too many attackers and only one armed with a knife. I’m thinking the girl was with her dirt bag boyfriend and his little gang of brothers in arms. The dirt bag confronts the girl about perceived flirting with guys inside the club, starts knocking her around, and Stone sees this as he and friends are walking out and tries to stop it. Some times things are just what they appear to be.
What I don’t understand is... was he not with anybody else? I thought he was with at least one other guy and a couple of gals. Originally heard Stone and a guy and three girls, (now the one girl is accounted for as being dirt bag’s girlfriend) so there are still two others females and the one male friend unaccounted for? Or I may have missed any story changes. Was Stone, in fact, alone? He looks alert enough in pics to have given his account and it sure didn’t take this long to hear anything and everything about his actions in France so I do find that part curious... Is the silence an attempt to hide the reason he or maybe one of his friends was in a gay night club to begin with?
Just asking the questions others are afraid to ask... ;-)
I once had a friend get beaten to within an inch of his life that way. I advise people, never get directly involved in a fight like that with two lovers. Intervene from afar as best you can, but its not worth the risk.

Even going into a club that was primarily a queer hang would turn my stomach.
I think Stone’s group (which yesterday was said to include 3 females and 3 males) left Badlands, where Wed. night is $1 drink as well as “straight” night, and moved on to another club nearby where initial contact with the short bad guys occurred. There were people in the clubs, on the sidewalks watching the fight and seeing the miscreants getaway car arrive and depart, plus all the video cams inside and outside, but, incredibly, Sacramento PD spokesman says they’re stymied until they get a tip.
What a ridiculous statement! You are better than that, a hero is a hero... period.
