This is the first time I’ve disagreed with him. It’s his rich friend’s money so it’s theirs to take back.

You've hit on a hot-button topic. Besides education, means testing is also now the basis of our health-delivery system as well - and yes, it most definitely will become the rule in Social Security. It is sneaking its way into many areas, including housing/loans as well. Many Republicans won't speak out against it because its not a "tax" per se and is an insidious way to pay for leftist social-engineering schemes without supporting them directly.
I agree, that if you have a large income, you should not get SS.it is not fair but it might help save it.
The thievery has already occurred. By implementing a means test Trump would very publicly be stating that SS is welfare. You only get it if you need it. I like it because it will kill all discussions of SS being earned and a right. SS can then be discussed openly as the welfare income transfer Dimocrat vote buying scheme that it is.
I have no problem with people VOLUNTARILY opting out of receiving their Social Security benefits. I have huge problem with the government confiscating people’s money by means-testing a benefit you paid for.

See how the neat little government video explains it? If the seller is worried the buyer won’t pay the government will guarantee payment. No need to risk your own money when Uncle Sugar will risk the taxpayers.

That’s great until you get the surprising news that you have a large income. Your idea of large income may not be what the government decides.
If you make too much money, the Government Taxes whatever SS you receive anyway.
Before they took the money out of your Paycheck to fund SS, they taxed you on it as well.

Did I miss the part of the story that said Trump would REQUIRE that Rich People give up the Benefit if he is Elected POTUS? If it isn't Required, it's a Voluntary conscientious choice.
BTW - Trump didn't create SS. You can blame that on FDR, and he isn't Running for POTUS this time around.
I suspect other things that changed were the amounts deducted from paychecks and the number of healthy 25 year-olds collecting it...
It burns me that my children will pay for my success (not that I’m financially successful or have considerable assets, but I pay my own bills); they will pay more for school (if they even get accepted) - and we are just expected to take it...
Americans should depend on it; they’ve paid into it for decades...
