1. Shock or Disbelief - Before announcing, the MSM and pundits never thought he'd seriously announce his candidacy. They simply looked at his toying with the notion as an effort to gain publicity.

2. Denial - Immediately after announcing, the media and pundits laughed him off as not a serious candidate. He wouldn't last long. He simply wanted to draw attention to himself, but he would fade fast.

3. Anger - As his poll numbers make him the frontrunner, the media and pundits claim that his supporters are a bunch of illiterate, xenophobic bigots.

4. Bargaining - After realizing he has lasted much longer than previous "novelty" candidates, the media starts to outline paths that would lead to Trump exiting the race. Hoping for a new strategy, they start asking him what it's going to take to get him to drop out.

5. Guilt
6. Depression
7. Acceptance and Hope

I would have to say that Trump’s 27% in a field of 15 candidates is pretty damned impressive, as is Dr. Carson’s 21%. Trump’s only apparent weak spot is his 53% negativity, assuming it’s true.
