Russia using electronic warfare to cloak its actions in Syria from Isis and Nato
IBTimes ^ | 10/101/15 | Mary-Ann Russon

Fed up of the West's indecisiveness on dealing with the ongoing situation in Syria, Russia is now providing direct military air support to Syria, and it is using electronic warfare to jam Islamic State's (IS) communications, as well as to prevent Nato from detecting what it is up to, according to an electronic warfare expert.

Electronic warfare is the ability to manipulate the electromagnetic spectrum in order to sense where enemy targets are so that you can attack the enemy first, or to prevent the enemy from attacking you. Examples of things you can do with electronic warfare include communications jamming, radar jamming, reconnaissance and countermeasures using infrared, radio and electro-optical frequencies.

“and kick the trouble making Turks out of NATO”

It’s definitely time to review what we’re defending and why. The presence of US troops and the promise of our nuclear umbrella has allowed Europe to go full-socialist. They need to provide for their own defense and stop acting like every citizen is a college student for life.

Our presence there has allowed the very thing that we wanted to stop; Europe is now communist/socialist.

I don’t see anybody on the horizon who might reevaluate Turkey’s presence in the alliance. They’re there because they shared a border with the Soviet Union and we wanted lookout stations on those mountains to peer deep inside the Soviet sphere. We don’t need their geologic location any more and they aren’t the ally they once were.

“If it is “attacked” by the Russians and invokes NATO’s charter, the other signatories, the US in particular, are obliged to enter the fray in it’s defense.”

Yes of course, like the way Turkey joined in with us after 9/11./

And of course, Turkey does every single day what it accused Russia of. Turkey flies illegally into Syrian airspace and even drops bombs. I guess its ok when they do it.

Last, we are not obligated to defend them. We are only obligated to take actions we “deem necessary”. Furthermore, Article 7 says the US still is primary and the Treaty does not override that.
So no, Turkey cannot have one plane shot down in a war they started, and demand all of NATO go to war for them.

Make that article 7 says the UN is still primary. So all of this NATO making war without going to the UN is blatantly illegal.
We have long moved into a zone where rules and laws are only honored when they advance the goal of the global dictatorship.

Actually, for US Military Intelligence, this is great news. Go ahead, Putin, and turn on all of your toys. We’ll get to know the signatures, capabilities, and limitations, and come up with countermeasures.

“I’m thinking just go do it and don’t tell the brass.”

That would be a quick path to a court martial for anyone doing that.

Nobody, even in the age of 0bola, does EW as well as the Americans.

This is a great opportunity to watch the Russians in action. I just hope the White Hut doesn't press the military to use some of our 'red switch' systems to try and show up the Russians.

Just like we were obliged to defend the Ukraine with the treaty we had for them giving up all their nuclear weaponry?

We could have split the middle east from Turkey to the Persian sea,

And we had it all but done until obama showed up.

I’ll bet you that the Israelis are vacuuming it all up so that when they have to act the russians won’t know what hit them.

Agree.

Useful weapons don’t stay useful when used too openly.

Ease dropping is one thing. Propagation manipulation and ECM are quiet another.

I read for the first time today that Putin is an RF EE.

Did not know that. Interesting.

Do you think they will share as long as 0bola is in the White Hut?

I don't either. I wouldn't share if I were them.

0bama will not get a single piece of data. Israel MAY share with trusted members of our military should the need arise - however the unholy one has forced most of those out of the service i’m afraid and only his toadies remain - which Israel wisely won’t touch with a 12 foot pole
