accounting for roads that have been decommissioned along with roads considered unauthorized, the mileage of road closures on U.S. Forest Service (USFS) land in Montana balloons to 21,951 miles.
On Monday, Media Trackers reported that a study commissioned by the state legislature earlier this year and reported to the EQC last week found that 9,784 or nearly 31 percent of the nearly 32,000 miles of roads in Montana managed by the USFS were level 1 roads, meaning they are closed to motorized traffic and only open for administrative use. However, the 32,000 total miles of roads does not include the 5,796 miles of officially decommissioned roads or the estimated 6,191 miles of unauthorized roads.
Counting the decommissioned and unauthorized roads in the total, there are 21,951 miles of closed roads on USFS managed land. There are 22,047 miles of roads open to motorized traffic. By this measure, nearly half of the road mileage under the control of the USFS is closed.

I saw a sign one time that said, “property of the United States Government, Stay out!”
WTF, just who is the US Government?
The King.
This kind of thing is a big deal to me. I take full advantage of the endless roads across Nevada, and disappear for days at a time without seeing another human being. One of my yearly trips is to 4 wheel from the Utah border to the California border without touching pavement without using maps or gps, and some of those old roads over some of those mountains have not seen tires in decades and some barely exist anymore and some have ceased to exist. I consider it my job to keep the roads in existence. Other similar trips I do off pavement but not necessarily as extreme is the rural nevada pub crawl where I try to hit every super remote bar in the state
Agenda 21 ping.
Kill the wolves.
I guess it’s just me. What are they trying to hide? You could stash a whole army in some of those valleys...
The enviro-nazis both inside and outside government keep pecking away at closing roads in all the Western states, us peasants shouldn’t have access according to those jerks.
Nothing. It’s agenda 21. Rewilding. Load up the wilderness with tons of predators, get the ranchers, hunters, and farmers off the land and into cities. So Mother Earth can survive us evil humans.
Closing the roads is part of it.
Unconstitutional federal acts are by definition acts of tyranny. The feds have NO constitutional authority to commandeer state land but MAY buy land from a state ONLY for NEEDFUL BUILDINGS for defensive purposes (Art I, Sec 8, Cl 17, U.S. Constitution).
Teddy Roosevelt National Parks initiative is nothing more than “benevolent” tyranny. And we all know that tyranny sooner or later, turns malevolent and oppressive and we see here and elsewhere.
Protection of lands for the sake of protecting the environment or beauty is a STATES’ issue and the people of each state may, as they always have, designate STATE PARKS as they see fit.
Once again, in this instance along with literally hundreds of other instances, states must NULLIFY and REJECT unconstitutional federal acts. In this case, Montana should take back all land from the feds that was kept by the feds or not sold to them for the limited purposes named in Art I, Sec 8, Cl 17.
I like to do the same. Nevada and Eastern California has some very remote areas. My brother and like to go way back on dirt roads and camp. Spent a week in the mountains on the Nevada/Calif border and didn’t see another human being or vehicle the entire time.
Ignore their stupid rulings. If the Feds get uppity have the County Sheriff arrest them.
L
Harry Reid owns 85% of Nevada but still wants more.
Yup, it is time for civil disobedience.
UN Agenda 21 ( Let me know if you wish to be added or removed from the list.)
Everything belongs to the fed!....... Ask the federal reserve.
What kind of rig do you have?
A whole Muslim Army.
AGENDA 21 on the move
