Donald Trump, House Speaker Needs To Be Tougher

Donald Trump said Friday he does not want to get overly involved in the ongoing battle for the House Speaker’s seat, but he does believe a “very much tougher voice” is needed.

“There’s so many things the Republicans could do if they knew how to negotiate and had some unity,” Mr. Trump said in a TV interview Friday. “So many times you’ll have people out there but they have no backing from the rest of the party.”

Mr. Trump did not have any names he wanted to suggest Friday to replace current House Speaker John Boehner, who announced his resignation last month.

“There seems to be a little bit of unification around Paul Ryan, who is a good guy but I would say that I have 4 or 5 people that I would have in mind that are tough people that a lot of people would not be thinking of,” Donald Trump said. “I don’t think they would have much of a chance but I think they would do a good job.” But he said he does not see the chaos in the House as a huge issue for the GOP presidential race.

“I think that we are who we are, we are out campaigning. There are now 16 of us left. That’s a lot of people with one left and another one is going to be leaving pretty soon from what I hear and probably a lot will be leaving soon but we’re a little bit on our own. We are in our own orbit.”

He thinks that Sen. Rand Paul (KY) will be out of the race soon.

“I think he has to go back to the people of Kentucky,” he said. “I think they’re not being treated fairly by him and he’s going to have to do one thing or the other. I don’t think it’s fair to the people of Kentucky. A great state and great people. I don’t think it’s fair to them.”

But Donald Trump said he does know one thing for sure, the person leaving the race is not  him.

“I’m never getting out,” he said.

I have no idea what your comment means or how it applies to this article. Care to elaborate?

Not being mean, I just don’t understand the point you are making.

Paul Ryan is far from my first choice, but a very nice guy. The Republicans should go for tough and (very) smart this time - no games!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) October 10, 2015

So it is, but the guy on the hill will always have rocks thrown at him.
I think Donalds mistake is showing his cards early but I do think he is taking notes.

Good for him.

I just dont trust the guy

Read on Drudge the Freedom Caucus is trying to dilute the powers of the Speaker. They want procedural changes. This which will be playing itself out when the candidate makes his case for their support and they (conservatives) can then appeal to him and negotiate with the him for more conservative block inclusion on shaping the agenda and on the votes that will come to the floor.

If they are outvoted, so be it, but they are asking for at least a seat at the table. That doesn’t sound like too much to ask to me.

I do have concerns how the Democrats could be advantaged by such a procedural change, but basically, by gosh this is democracy, and the conservatives are getting the shaft as things are now.

I’m not sure that Trump knows how many of the members of Congress are owned by The Cheap Labor Express.
Paul Ryan is one of them.
The next Speaker should not be.

Do not get me wrong, I would play things the way Trump is playing things, but I have trepidation about what motivates him
