The Republican Crack-up
Wall Street Journal ^ | 10/10/15 | Editors

Posted on 10/09/2015 10:42:15 AM PDT by pabianice

Kevin McCarthy suddenly quit his bid to succeed John Boehner as House Speaker on Thursday, amid an increasingly toxic crack-up inside the Republican conference. At 247 Members, the GOP enjoys its largest House majority since the 71st Congress of 1929-30—but a minority may squander it with ultimatums and self-sabotage...

The refuseniks belong to the larger conservative sub-movement that blames “the Republican establishment” for all the country’s problems, not President Obama, Hillary Clinton or bad policy choices that can be reversed with someone else in the White House. The listless economy, the failure to repeal ObamaCare or secure the border—all these disappointments supposedly can be blamed on GOP leaders who don’t fight hard enough...

Great!

Peaceful revolution against known losers.

Short of a third-party, this is exactly what was called for. The Democrats did the same thing in the 2000s when they ran out the last Blue Dogs.

Hard enough? Show me where they fought at all. Compare and contrast George W. Bush's last two years in office with the 2006 Democrat wave and compare it to the 2014 GOP wave. Is it so much to ask that they fight at least that hard?

"a minority RINO majority may squander it with ultimatums and self-sabotage..."

But the media always supports whoever wants to spend the most money.

Notice how when the Democrats wield minority power in Congress it's lauded? Harry Reid controls the Senate with 40 votes.

But when 40 votes in the House Republican caucus is used to force internal Republican party concessions, suddenly it's a crack-up, and Washington is in disarray.

Did this idiot “editor” from the WSJ forget that the establishment RINO GOPe proudly proclaimed: “Obamacare was here to stay!”

Blaming the GOPe RINO’s for not taking a single step forward to put a stop to this out of control government and for assisting Obama and his clowns with getting almost everything he has wanted for the last seven + years!

What an asshat!

bad policy choices that can be reversed with someone else in the White House.

RINOs: "We can't do anything until we get a Repub in the WH."

Losers.

House Cleaning to start and my reference is deliberate!

Clean it out, it is The People House for Representation at the closest level, your local Rep...

Be honest and cool, assess them while standing back from it, do not attempt to argue things as they come to you, wait until the end and the answer will be clear

Choose!!

When the RINO’s squeal, you know that the conservatives have won a victory.

The WSJ is a puppet of the US Chamber of Commerce, just like McConnell and the Republicans in the Senate.

Hey WSJ, it ain’t the minority that’s been squandering the opportunities, but the majority and the go-along/get-along leadership. What exactly have they accomplished, besides giving Obama everything he wants?

So now we are “refuseniks”, that term comes from the Soviets.

[an unofficial term for individuals, typically but not exclusively Soviet Jews, who were denied permission to emigrate by the authorities of the former Soviet Union and other countries of the Eastern bloc.[1] The term refusenik is derived from the “refusal” handed down to a prospective emigrant from the Soviet authorities.

In addition to the Jews, broader categories included:

Other ethnicities, such as Volga Germans attempting to leave for Germany, Armenians wanting to join their diaspora, and Greeks forcibly removed by Stalin from Crimea and other southern lands to Siberia.
Members of persecuted religious groups, such as the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church, Baptists and other Protestant groups, Russian Mennonites, and Jehovah’s Witnesses.

A typical pretext to deny emigration was the real and alleged association with state secrets.]

If tat is what the GOPe wants to call us, I suspect it says more about their bizarro world than anything we’ve done.

Some woman named Judith was on Fox News while ago predicting that this Republican infighting would assure a Dem victory.

She was truly annoying.

The press has totally latched on to this hoping, I guess, that it will cause us to forget Hillary’s lying and Obama’s treason.

What a pile of equine feces! The mainstream Republicans (Boehner, McConnell and their allies) have not only gone along with the policies of Obama, Clinton, et al - they’ve facilitated them. Of course we blame them for it, dumbass!

As for Kevin “I can’t keep it in my pants” McCarthy, he bailed for the same reason as Jim Livingston. The fact that it derailed Boehner’s plans for a clone to replace him is hardly the fault of the Freedom Caucus. Maybe, just maybe what some of us really object to is that the so-called Republican leaders (including John Roberts) have so damned many skeletons in their closets that they’re nothing more than tools of the DEMOCRATIC leadership.

but a minority may squander it with ultimatums and self-sabotage...

A new line in a coordinated attack against conservatives. I see that the WSJ is using it. Several articles here about FOX doing it too.

I'm guessing National Review and the others will be joining in as well.

This is a war between the media and conservatives.

Good or bad?

IMHO, Good.

It is a movement to restore honesty and trust and move the party back to its founding principles.

Notice that no matter how filthy, dirty and criminal the democrats conduct themselves there is never a similar movement from within to move them away from extremism and bring them back to serving America instead of serving the democrat party.
