The first police call about the gunfire came in at 1:20 a.m. PDT.
Brown said she didn't know what caused the shooting and also didn't have any details about the suspect and victims, their conditions and whether they are students.

A Northern Arizona University administrator spoke about the shooting on its Flagstaff campus early in the morning of Oct. 9. “This is not going to be a normal day at NAU,” she said, as classes are set to go on as scheduled. (Reuters)
One person has been killed and three others wounded in a fight that escalated into a shooting near a Greek-life dorm at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Ariz.
The suspected gunman — 18-year-old freshman Steven Jones — is in custody, NAU Police Chief Greg Fowler said. The injured survivors are being treated at Flagstaff Medical Center.
There was a shooting in a dorm at UNC-Greensboro a month before the Virginia tech shooting. It was over a drug deal. The VT shootings began in a dorm when the shooter killed the girl he was stalking (and her RA).

Unlikely but the general ubiquitous unrest and division is orchestrated. The deplorable economy with a lack of hope for improvement helps it fester.

Tough to say what started the fight. One report says two groups were fighting. Another doesn’t say, but implies frat boys picking on a loner. Drugs might be involved, as there were reports of drug sales by the frat boys.

Don't imagine what he believes the remedy is, the fault is male genetics - more feminist theory and pro-homosexual instruction in the schools at an earlier age to take the "masculinity" out of males.

We had just left a party and were standing in the street getting ready to walk home when a guy walked up with a pistol and just started shooting…I heard five or six shots and then my friends just tackled him. They got him really quick. We were leaving and it all happened on the sidewalk across from Mountain View.
A man named Mark White told NBC Phoenix that Jones “was a really nice kid. I can’t believe he would have done something like this.”

Rumors on the Twitter spread fast that the shooting involved members of the school’s Delta Chi fraternity. Those rumors were later confirmed by a statement from the frat which read in part “We have investigated the matter and can confirm that there were members involved.”

All of the victims in the shooting are male. One man is dead, the conditions of the other men has not been released. They are all being treated at Flagstaff Medical Center. The deceased man is a freshman, reports ABC 15.

According to KTRK-TV, there are more than 20,000 student at the Flagstaff campus of Northern Arizona University.
Northern Arizona, founded in 1899, is a public university with 27,000 students across its campuses, including the main Flagstaff campus. The school also has 36 satellite campuses across the state. In a statement, NAU President Rita Cheng said “We are shocked and deeply saddened by this incident. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families, and our entire Lumberjack family.” Cheng later said that “classes would continue as normal Friday but this is not going to be a normal day.”
