I’ve had two Black and a Yellow Lab. All females. I’m not sure my heart can take another one! :)
I currently have a Basset Hound and a cat, both are 15! I’d like to stay ‘pet-less’ for a while after they pass, but I’m sure that won’t last long.

Five years ago I lost a wonderful dog who was half Chocolate Lab and half Weimaraner, and it still hurts. However, I dealt with a lot of that hurt by adopting a Great Dane puppy, who's now full grown and noting but a giant love muffin.

RE “...like to stay pet-less for a while ...”
THAT’s not gonna happen... :^)
They break your heart, for sure. But “better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all”.
Reminds us we’re human.
