The problem is that the "entire data set" is impossibly messy, suffering from differences in both instrumentation and in major changes in the local environments since these measurements began to be taken. That's why we use satellite data, which suffer from none of those deficiencies. And the satellite data are very clear.

Tired, so tired of this ridiculous "consensus" argument. You could have mustered a 97% consensus in Nazi Germany for Aryan racial theory, or in Soviet Russia for Lysenko biology. You do that at the point of a gun, or these days, at the risk of loss of grant money, character assassination, and firing. None of these have anything to do with science and no one who really honors science will stoop to that argument.
