Gwinnett County is set to get a double dose of attention from the two leading Republican candidates for president this weekend.
# Donald Trump and Dr. Ben Carson, will be in the county on Saturday to meet with supporters at separate events in Norcross and Lawrenceville. It’s a rare opportunity for the county to play host to multiple major candidates for the highest office in the nation on the same day.
# Many polls in recent weeks have pegged Trump as the leader in the large Republican field by as many as 10 points, according to realclearpolitics.com. Meanwhile, the same polls have also shown Carson in the No. 2 spot, sometimes as close as one point behind Trump.
# Trump will address supporters at 12 p.m., at the North Atlanta Trade Center,1700 Jeurgens Court, in Norcross. The appearance was first announced over the weekend, but his campaign emailed supporters in the state on Wednesday to remind them that tickets — which are free — are still available. The tickets can be obtained through trumpgeorgia.eventbrite.com.
# Supporters are also asked to use the hashtag, #TrumpGeorgia, on social media.
