GOP presidential candidate Ohio Gov. John Kasich told the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday his plan for immigration reform, which includes controlling the border, a guest worker program and amnesty.
We need to clean up the visas, but at the end of the day, people are here now. Let them stay, he said.

Kasich, who voted for former President Ronald Reagans amnesty plan in 1986 as a congressman, said Tuesday that after the Reagan amnesty, the U.S. never locked its doors.
U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Javier Palomarez asked Kasich, How do you propose we fix our broken immigration system, and best harness whats good about the immigrant community and particularly immigrant entrepreneurs, and how do we make that a competitive advantage for the country?
Kasich asked Palomarez if he locked his doors at night.
I do, Palomarez said.
Dont you think our country needs to lock its doors? Now the reason you lock your doors is because you dont want people willy nilly walking into your house, Kasich said. I voted for the 86 Reagan proposal. We never locked the doors, and a country that cant control its borders is a country that has a lot of chaos.
Palomarez quoted a National Journal estimate that said building a wall to cover the almost 2,000 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border would cost about $6.4 billion, and what weve seen over the years is that people will find a way to get around it, under it, above it, through it.
Now, the $6 billion figure? They leave that much on the floor up on Capitol Hill every night, okay, so lets not get hung up on the 6 it is a lot of money, but it isnt prohibitive, and in terms of what we say secure the border, build a wall, whatever, Kasich responded.
Kasich said there are certain technologies that would be just as effective as a physical wall, such as sensors and drones.
I think its just imperative that we control our border, he said, but that being said, I believe we ought to have an effective guest worker program. I think people ought to be able to come in and work and be able to go back home.
Without an effective guest worker program, then people will come in and try to sneak in and then sneak back and forth, and look labor organized labor doesnt like an expanded guest worker program, but I favor it, and I have a lot of friends in organized labor, but on this issue, I think we should expand the guest worker so people are comfortable, Kasich added.
Secondly, once we have things in place, we dont want people coming over. If they come over, they have an excuse, they gotta go back. No excuses, just go back, he said.
Kasich said there should be a path to legalization for illegal immigrants who abide by the law.
Then for those that are here that have been law-abiding, God bless them. I mean theyre a critical part of our society from doctors to engineers to lawyers
We gotta a lot of teachers, whatever. Then I think they should have a path to legalization, and I think that can pass, and when you talk about the visa issue and all that, well thats something that has to be dealt with. We dont want people overstaying their visas, he said.
And it looks to me as though the whole immigration has to be done in a way in which we address all the different elements, but the fundamentals are this: protect the border, guest worker, people who are here who have been law-abiding get to stay, Kasich said.
He predicted that the public would consider his proposal as reasonable and that it would pass Congress.
The idea that were going to pick these folks up and ship them out, I mean that is just unbelievable - the thought of it. What are we going to do ride in neighborhoods and announce, Come on out now - youre going to the border? First of all, it would send sheer panic to our families, Kasich said.
There are families here that live in fear of being divided. Could you imagine being a six- or seven- or 8-year-old kid and being told were going to ship your dad out? Thats just not acceptable in America, he said. So in terms of the whole immigration issue, we need to look - should we broaden it? We need to clean up the visas, but at the end of the day, people are here now. Let them stay.
NO!
He makes me sick, he is a low life human
Round em up, ship em out.
NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kasich must have decided he’s not going to win the nomination, so he might as well try to openly argue his RINO positions and see if he can change the minds of a few people so they can vote for Jeb or Rubio.
Facts:
1) Except in the very odd/exceptional election year of 1964, the Dems havent cracked 50% of the whites in a Presidential election since 1932.
2) Once the 64 election was over, the Dems understood that they would never win another Presidential election again unless the Republicans REALLY screwed up...or unless they changed the electorate in a dramatic way.
3) The Dems, courtesy of Bobby Kennedy who wrote the law, and Teddy Kennedy who pushed it in the Senate, passed the 1965 Immigration Act. That law dramatically reduced immigration from our then-traditional large sources of immigrants - England, Ireland, Holland, Germany, etc. - and replaced them with vast numbers of Turd Worlders...whom everyone knows vote around 80% for Dems, and will continue to do so for the rest of their lives, as new immigrants have traditionally done.
4) As a result of the 65 Act, and due to the Dems outright lying in 86 regarding an effective (or any) fence, there are now probably 30 - 40 million illegals in this nation. Note that the (probably low-ball) figure in 2005 was 11 million...we have 2-3 million come in every year, so simple math says that the number is actually somewhere between 31 and 41 million). If any substantial portion of these people ever become citizens, then the Dems will have accomplished a complete shift of the electorate, and will be virtually invincible on the national level. Every state will become like California, both politically and economically - which is to say, overwhelming Dem and broke. But at least if you dont like California now, you can leave for a better place without much trouble - where are you going to go if EVERY state is like that?
5) Every Republican, and every Conservative voter MUST UNDERSTAND that if such a state of affairs comes to be, NO OTHER ISSUE WILL MATTER AT ALL, because we will ALWAYS AND FOREVER lose on those issues. Immigration is THE issue of this election, and this election is as critical as the 1860 election was - and for the same reason, because it will determine whether this nation continues on as it has existed in the past, or becomes a new and unrecognizable entity that simply occupies the same geographic territory.
Please wake up, and help others to do so by sending them this post (or recommending Adios America to them). It really is THAT important.
Didn’t you know he once personally balanced the federal budget, and his father was a mailman?
Hey Kasich
We put parents of kids in jail. Are you against that too?
Let the kids join the old man in whatever country they all belong in. At least kids don’t have to join dad in the penetentiary
See, see you mean-old right-wing troglodyte FReepers! This is how you get that elusive Hispanic vote! Sheesh, they’re already here, might as well “lock our doors” after the fact! At least Kasich wants to lock the doors. With Hillary, the doors remain ajar!
Even if they’re here only for the free Money and no interest in becoming citizens
Is there a way to deport his butt?
So Kasich’s advice is that once criminals invade our country we should just through our hands up in helplessness, say nothing and leave them to their plunder.
Does he feel the same way about criminals who might invade his home?
I’m convinced Kasich is running to make Jeb look conservative.
Total liar. No border control from these liberal RINO’s. They lie and lie and lie and lie.
If we haven’t “cleaned up the Visas” after 9/11 fourteen years ago then don’t piss on my leg and tell me it’s raining. LIARS.
Oh, but if one of their ilk win the nomination I have to listen to idiots tell me I “have to vote for them or I want Satan to win”
This gut hits the kiddie table!!
Islamic Telefon agents.
Kasich would pull a gun on his own children if it meant he’d have two more terms in government.
That’s what this is about after all eh John you traitorous SOB?
He robbed the bank five years ago, let him keep the money.
Is say let Kasich leave, now.
